Great information I have a pastor friend who played professionally back in the day when I first started learning piano, and all he would tell me after learning basic chords, was to play whatever sounds good that hasn’t worked so well, so I really appreciate you sharing some of your technique keep up the good work and may the lord bless you and keep you along with all your family hope you had a great Thanksgiving

I haven't seen anyone play really like this until now! This is mainly how I play piano for Church and I got the ability after I did a fast for something unrelated! I'm so glad I stumbled onto this (was looking up violin videos for one of my kids). It is nice to learn that G chord roll you showed and some of those SUS tricks. I've been wanting to get more pizazz into my playing. I'm also going to work on changing my chord positions, because I play very inverted, and need to learn the other shapes of chords and move around a bit more on the piano.

Can't believe I've only just found your channel. I subscribed straight away. Love your teaching style. I have been looking for something like this, a teacher like you who actually shows you what they're saying you can do lol! Then goes off and does some flashy jazzy stuff leaving you feeling totally demoralised. Want to learn to be able to solo and improvise like this but being classically trained, it's hard for me with no notation. Although I followed what you were doing as far as the jazzy and bluesy stuff is concerned I would be grateful of some notation for those styles. I appreciate you're doing this for free and I admire and am thankful for your selflessness and altruism so apologies if I've been a little cheeky. It takes time and I am sure people would pay for that, I know I would. Can't wait for the next video with my tips and tricks. Particularly fills and runs. Thank you Shawn.

Hey Shawn. Please help me to understand how to know the chord change in the song. You mentioned about syllables. Walk me through the process. Help highlight the syllables in the song. Is it words with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 syllables or open and closed syllables? Is it a consonant or vowels sound? Help me to understand it better.

The chord symbols are right over the syllable of the word that you need to change on. Use the slowdown function on the video player, a lot of viewers tell me that that helps them a bunch.
