There are a few steps to renaming a kit, but it's not too difficult once you do it a few times. Check out page 47 of the owners manual for the details.

So is that both A's going into A output and both B's going to B output? Or one A and B from both amps? I'm having issues with a similar setup where only one speaker from each sub/full stack is working
@tylernettestad2 ай бұрын
You wouldn't really need the tilting action with the line array speakers, right? The line array speakers take care of that themselves.

Informative videos. I’m going to record the high school marching band with my drone. I was thinking of starting recording audio with my dji mic 2 setup. It’s not going to be great. You got any ideas for a very quick setup I could attach to the drum major stand? I’ve got a zoom recorder with xlr as well.

Hey! Enjoy your videos a lot. Just looking for clarification on what’s the use of the Scarlett solo on the synth cart?
@microphonicdesigns3 ай бұрын
Since their laptop is acting as the synthesizer, running MainStage, an audio interface allows us to connect the computer to the main audio system in a much more stable, controllable way. They also have separate headphone and "main" outputs, which allows us to feed the main audio system and a monitor speaker AND have separate volume controls for both.

I've installed a few driveracks in small venues before where there's a mixer behind the bar to control music, a set of wireless mics and sometimes a DJ. It's perfect for those kinds of venues where there is rarely a sound engineer present. I can come in when something is off or needs to be changed, log into it with an iPad and quickly see what's going on to fix the issue. Never have I used one when there's a sound engineer present, I've always used either a main with an aux for sub control or used a couple of matrixes from the board.

Do you use heat shrink tubing or tape? Looking to bundle some cables together for our sounds system, but want to make sure the cable ends will fit through. Appreciate the videos, they have been very helpful!
@microphonicdesigns4 ай бұрын
I use heat shrink and have a few different sizes on hand most of the time. I've found I use 1" heat shrink the most and would like to add 1.25" heat shrink to my tool kit because 1.5" is a tad too big for certain cable combinations. The heat gun is the expensive part, but a worthwhile investment if you'll be doing a lot of bundles.

Great video. I’d also recommend the Samson R21 for a mic on a budget. Very similar to the SM57 but you can get a 3 pack from sweetwater currently for $49.

Great video! How can I get all of my pads to work simultaneously with a empty kit?
@microphonicdesigns5 ай бұрын
I got confirmation shortly after posting this video that the mixer cart was indeed built by a parent volunteer, a very gracious electrical engineer, who made it happen. I also learned that the bins inside the cart were intended to house the snakes, which I wish I would have realized during the setup and is very clever.

Any drumset mics? submixer to a single channel, or separating kick, snare, overhead?
@microphonicdesigns5 ай бұрын
No drumset mics this time, but there are more than enough open channels in the TF5 to accommodate adding drumset mics. I'd simply run a 3rd 8-channel snake to the drum kit and would likely opt for a modular snake to contain the cables to the cart. Check out the Forney 2023 setup video for what that looks like.

Should all the cables be 4 pin to work properly or can you have a 2 pin cables running from the sub to the loudspeaker above the sub? Thanks!

Software walkthroughs in coordination with a manual must be superior. Then you get added clarity of an instructor along with familiarizing yourself with the manual which you can easily use later (often quicker than searching through a video!)

Great video! You mentioned you were going away from the mod snake system. Were you seeing issues with it/personal preference/or any reason?
@microphonicdesigns9 ай бұрын
It's more or less just trading one convenience for another. The modular snakes are great, but they do require more short cables to implement properly, are prone to the little pins getting bent, and are more expensive (one modular snake requires three separate pieces, though that is the point of being modular). Plus, the keyboard with the breakout cable has to be present to use the modular snake, even if that student is sick or out for whatever reason. The sub-snakes may take a few extra seconds for the students to plug (which can be reduced with simplifying the color coding), but they need less cables, are just as nimble as modular snakes, and don't require the inner keyboards to be present if those students have to be absent. This is a great question and would make a really great video topic.
@Fluffyness977 ай бұрын
Maybe this is a dumb question, but with the sub snakes, if someone is out sick for the day or something, it’s not a problem for the keyboards that are usually jumper cabled to the absent kid because they can just plug directly into the sub snake itself instead?
@microphonicdesigns7 ай бұрын
@@Fluffyness97 That is absolutely correct, though you'd need to plan ahead and ensure that the cables on the outer marimbas have enough slack to reach the ground where the snake is.

Wow, you came up with cool clamps for the microphone arm under the marimba. In college we had stands right in front of the musician's head. Sometimes they were hit with chopsticks and there was a rumble in the control room!!! I noticed that you have one synth going through a stereo dibox, and the second synth through two mono diboxes, is that more convenient? What microphone cable do you use for indoor sound? Do you have any favorite brands? Show us your soldering shop. Very interesting!

Love your content. I'm on year 2 of running and improving on audio setup for my old high school marching band. Your videos are very insightful. Do you have a recommendation for mic mounts for marimbas/vibes?
@gregbrown3588 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever used an audio box to take the two marimba mic inputs and send out just one signal to the board? We use the Audio Technica AT8681 UniMix boxes on all of ours, and it has saved us a bunch of channels. The only problem is they no longer make these. I'm not sure if there are other options or not.
@microphonicdesigns Жыл бұрын
Usually I steer away from those combiners, especially for marimbas, because the EQ settings I use are different for the high and low microphones; So I like to have that separate control of each mic. I would also say that groups this large are very rare and channel count isn't something I usually have to worry about. This set up definitely required some extra consideration on how to best use the Yamaha TF3, but even with all of this, there are still 4 or so open channels.
