I really enjoyed this video. I am on the minimalist bullet journal side of things. I like writing. Looking forward to next years. This was my first Full Year 2024 of doing the Bujo Method. and I really enjoyed it. Lets say its January(2025) say in 4 Months time (May 2025) an appointment or event-something to do later. Do you add that to the future log, then when you set up (May 2025) you add it from the Future Log into that Monthly Log? Im not 100% sure if thats the correct way or not, but I feel like it is? Either way thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it. Saved it again for when I go to set up My 2025 Book. But I am mostly trying to go the Original way- I do have a sleep tracker which I try to stay up with as well as some other mini trackers I piggy back off of. But again Thank you for taking the time to make the video. Best Minimal Basic Bullet Journal approach I've seen.

@@thestationeryjunkie Yea i loved it! Looking more into the Alastair method, which I think i kind of used but didn't know it had a name. another Daily system which I like is the ugMonk index system... i use it for like "taking my bujo day" on a index card -- I don't really like my bullet journal leaving the house unless I am going away for a little while. Its pricey so I just made a diy one with some scrap wood, but the Daily Index is what I call it. Its like a task list on the go. I have the Bullet Journal Method book, and i really enjoyed it, I read in February of this year and was Introduced to Bujo last July and started in a Drawing Book collecting dust, now its a Keepsake.

@ThinKtakeNotes Interesting! So do you still keep your bujo at home and have that portable task list with you? I take mine everywhere even if it's an A5 book. It can be a hassle but it's like my security blanket. 😅
@ThinKtakeNotes23 күн бұрын
@@thestationeryjunkie I just watched your video again LOL. I love the Basic approach. I like writing so im not big on the all the Drawing and Designing. I treat it like a captains log. My book is an A5 and it sits on my wall easel and its the first thing I grab when I get up in the morning and the last thing I touch when i 'shut down' and go to bed. I usually lay out my weeks in advance, but the original Monthly Log with the numbers down the side (i did other 'Designs' which I didn't really use it other than to look at.) I like so much better as I can add tasks/events that are coming up. And going back through it and adding to it. Before I used to have the week/days laid out in advance and I could fill them in, but I would have some days with not a lot going on, and like you the Empty Spots in the book kinda bug me a bit.. I like full pages. So filling it out as the day goes on, or when I get home to use it as a catchall. I don't have as many tasks as you though lol. So when I am out i don't really like carrying stuff that can't fit into my pocket. So i like to have index cards I can scratch write in them as necessary a lot of times its something from a podcast, or a quote from a book I saw in a store or just something that stuck in my mind. Then when I get home ill transfer what matters into the Bujo. Big believer in writing to declutter the mind. Why I love 'Artists Way: Morning Pages' Free up the clutter to create more space for creativity.

Did you notice a difference in the paper quality between the two? I’ve been using Muji planners for the past years but iirc all the ones ive bought were made in japan. I just started using fountain pens with the planner and it works perfectly fine but I’ve been seeing warnings about muji planners made outside of Japan to be of different paper quality, and that they don’t work with fountain pens. Is there any truth to that?
@thestationeryjunkie26 күн бұрын
@@crzn07 There MAY be some truth to that. I've seen some Muji planners that are "made in China" (just look at the back of the book). I haven't done a pen test on these 2 planners I reviewed because I'm giving them away. I mentioned there may be some truth to what you said because I experienced it in Daiso notebooks that are made in China (but then Daiso is a Japanese brand). So whenever I buy notebooks there, I make sure to pick up those that specifically indicate are made in Japan.

I also find it hard to believe that Bauchan is Tomoe River paper… at least not exactly. Even if a company tries to duplicate the recipe - it won’t be the same thing even if it’s a close dupe. I also think if sanzen has been inconsistent in their paper production, all the designers using the paper in their notebooks are just ordering the paper and you don’t know which batch you are getting… so in general, I think we can no longer give a blanket statement that it’s tomoe river like in the old days and be confident it will perform exactly as intended and always the same. Just as how hobonichi has a special recipe for their paper order even if it’s sanzen. I realize this doesn’t help anyone - you just have to try the paper and see if it suits you!
@thestationeryjunkieАй бұрын
@@tortagialla I completely agree! Which is why I have a hunch there will be a big shift in the community and people may look for an alternative to TRP. Not saying everybody will shift, but there will be changes for sure.
@tortagiallaАй бұрын
@@thestationeryjunkie It does seem like many people have already shifted because of the issues - or at least everyone is more open to other options. There are probably so many other kinds of paper out there that just aren't well known because they perhaps exist in a specific country only. But people use fountain pens everywhere - in fact, I've always heard how students might use fountain pens in certain countries - whereas in the USA it's more of fancy thing or hobbyist niche... I'm personally not too bothered by all the issues popping up, but I can understand the frustration if you planned to use a certain pen/ink and now it doesn't work in your expensive hobonichi planner!
@thestationeryjunkieАй бұрын
@tortagialla I am a bit bummed about this because Hobo is not cheap. The sad thing is that the paper issue also happens not just on using FPs but even with normal gel pens and highlighters. I don't know why Hobo decided to do 47gsm in 2025. It might be the reason because other planner shops using TRP use 52gsm and there are few issues. 🤷🏻♀️
@tortagiallaАй бұрын
@ I think ever since hobonichi switched to sanzen it has always been 47gsm or at least they always have a special recipe but it’s the inconsistency that is weird. People at least expect the same book from last year to be the same… but it does seem some books have quality issue. Regarding kinbor, I do think it’s still lower quality because the construction of the book is not the same, sometimes the pages are cut a little off center… in the past they have had spelling mistakes as well - I have the a6 kinbor techo and the month is misspelled in one spot etc… they are not deal breakers but I do see the difference between the quality of the books!
