Moving shit to the cloud just makes everything incredibly boring. Yes it’s more secure but where’s the fun in troubleshooting it, configuring it in your own way etc

great series, however a question pops to my mind, do we need to statically mention ports with leaf switches where the ESXI/Vcenter resides at the AAEP? i dont get it, can i just create the AAEP like you did without assigning it to leaf switches and the ACI will automatically detect the vcenter based upon the provided ip and credentials via LLDP/CDP?

I bet your room acoustics would work better if you spread those sound damper panels around on the large flat wall surfaces in your studio. Thx for the subnetting video.

I'd love to visit Cisco Live EMEA again. I was at Berlin in 2016, but convincing my company to fund a trip to EMEA is a lot harder than Cisco Live US.

It seems once you're a target, that in itself is a vulnerability, because they will learn where your weakest link is. -- very shocking --

Great video, however I'm missing the steps before adding the Fabric Interconnects to Intersight. For example do you have to do it directly during the deployment or can you do it afterwards. Also connect them directly to Intersight or use the hub appliance.

When you deploy the FIs initially you get the option to set them up either for UMM (UCS Manager Mode) or IMM (Intersight Managed Mode). If you set it up for IMM, there will be a lightweight GUI that you access via each FI's management IP (no VIP in IMM) to access the device ID and claim code, which are used to claim the FIs in Intersight. If you have already deployed in UMM, you either have to wipe the FIs and redeploy or use the IMM Transition tool, but either way downtime is involved. Unless there is a limitation to internet access in your UCS's location, you do not need an appliance to access Intersight.

Thanks for this great video! I do have one question I'm struggling with: I'm using your tool and and have an ip of 115.163.109.207 and a subnet mask of 255.255.248.0. I get everything right but the broadcast IP address. The solution per all the calculators I've used including yours give 115.163.111.255 as the broadcast address. In the example in your video, you have 172.16.15.25 and subnet 255.255.240.0; The broadcast address works out as follows: Broadcast: 10101100.00010000.00001111.11111111 Broadcast Address: 172.16.15.255 Well that makes sense, the 1111 = 15. But, in the tool when the problem is an ip of 115.163.109.207 and a subnet mask of 255.255.248.0, the broadcast address portion of the third octet is 00000111. I would think 111 =7, as in the your video example, 00001111 is 15, but apparently it's 111 and I have no idea why. Can you give me any clarity? Thank you!

For a car dealership that has locations worldwide what type of network would you use?
@RichTechGuy
@RichTechGuy 6 ай бұрын
If I were tasked with building out a network for multiple car dealership locations, I would look at the network needs for each location, then build out network architectures for each location. Then, connect the multiple locations together with an SD-WAN solution.

Hi Rich, given a migration scenario from a traditional network to an ACI environment using l2out , I have a question about gateway migration. Typically we would migrate the gateway last, after all the workloads, by enabling unicast routing on the bridge domain and shutting the l2out connection. However a client wants something different, he would like to keep the legacy gateway and have a second one on the same subnet in ACI, this new gateway points to a new firewall. After a workload is migrated, he would configure the new gateway in the server. He thinks that this approach would make use of the new gear faster instead of keeping the routing in the old infrastructure. Do you think this is possible? Never seen it done. (PS: l3out is not an option for him) Thanks a lot,
