You may wish to know that Kevin Hoare, pupil and head teacher of the school has recently passed. He was certainly a big influence on me way back when.

O'Shea was a violent psychopath. Charlie Wilkins would take boys out of their class to 'help' him and abuse them The best day ever was in a snowstorm after lunch when the whole school rioted. Jonny mescal slipped down the steps, Pop (the vicar) groves got pelted with snowballs from the playground and from 6 formers behind him and in the end everyone just left and went home. That half hour of anarchy nearly made up for my 4 years of hell.

Interesting how the Newsman is played by a human but is still wearing muppety gloves on his hands. But recreating a puppet show with humans is amazing.

Started there in around 79 had a good few years there but didn’t realise at the time like all kids, remember mr small/mr Henderson and geography teacher the lovely Brenda Doyle I think she was called etc etc back in the day, popped into the school yard for a visit when in the area a few years back still looks relatively the same some 40 years after leaving.Loved kicking a tennis ball about at lunchtime and after home time and playing football in the park near the school after on a few occasions,as say good times that only now you realise they were🤷🏻♂️

The Muppet Show was something unique, and I am more of a fan today than I was at age ten during the autumn when it debuted here in America. As the years roll by, I become more impressed by the program, and find its charms and comedy to be even more of a tonic today than in my youth. The characters become like real friends who you know. And the whole zany flavor is so winning and delightful. It seems much more a show for grownups, although children naturally were drawn to it. The show felt like a love letter to vaudeville and Hollywood and entertainment and music. Can't begin to imagine what it must have been like to be on the crew, or to put that final episode on tape and realize that the show was 100% finished. I am grateful to everyone who was a part of this team. To create something this special and fun is a great legacy for the whole world to enjoy always.

Make my money and secure my life. How poised and determined was Nigel Benn at a young age? He was a British fighting phenomenon about this time, whom actually captured the boxing fraternity's imagination, more so than Chris Eubank ever did and I'm not retracting anything from Chris Eubank. Regardless of whether he best Benn first time round.

1:35 Teacher walking right to left I believe is 'Stinks' Stevenson, of whom many will have unpalatable memories quite unrelated to any activity expected within a school, or anywhere else for that matter. It seems that he made a substantial bequest to the school, perhaps by way of attempted reparation (or back rent), which led to his name being given to a school building. On a recent visit, I noted the school has a timeline display running along the middle school corridor, which commemorates the above naming. [UPDATE] I'm told that following 'complaints', the building in question has now been renamed, despite the timeline not reflecting the fact.

@@RandomGameClipsyt. The white building incorporating the dining hall on the ground floor. In my day it was just known as The New Building. At the 75th anniversary 'summer fayre' 2001, I noticed they were calling it Stevenson Block; unfortunately the headmaster at the time was someone I didn't take seriously, so I said nothing.

@@RandomGameClipsyt. The land bounded by Woodside Avenue used to comprise two large houses used by (what today would be) years 12 and 13. The west side of the year 12 house is best seen at 6:09. This house also comprised the admin and headmaster's offices. The playground at 0:43 belonged to the so-called prep school. At 6:15, the year 13 house can be glimpsed in the background. At 6:32 can be seen the former music house, formerly used by boarders. Throughout the school's history, the names of the aforementioned houses varied.

Brutal certainly but saw me waiting in the rain for a bus, stopped, gave me a lift to see my mother in hospital! Peter Keenan excellent for A level English. Charlie Wilkins..... English teacher but a rather sad individual. Loved it all. Good and daft friends. Happy days. A few have left for good.

I've just seen a video of the school that was made last year. A lot has changed since the 70's but remarkably a lot that we remember is still there and looks just as it did then. This video still sends shivers down my spine when I see Dennis 'Shag' O'Shea. But a lot of good memories nonetheless. Graham Duke '72-'79
