That's CRAZYYYYY. How do you go about the trial and error for something like this... Is it just "waste" a bunch of paint or what.
@doxx2265
@doxx2265 4 күн бұрын
The color is perfect. Buuutttt idk if that super glue is giving the true effect you want. Doesn’t really look like rust, just grime or grease. Which grime or grease doesn’t rust at the same rate as everything else. It’s nitpicking for sure, but you may be able to get a better effect by getting a fine and rough grit sandpaper and roughing the edges around the bolt with some trails leading off. Do this at the super glue stage and paint. You can try pooling paint on the deeper gouges to lessen or create different effect.

Rust is subtractive, not additive. It shouldnt be patruding from the material unless it is flaking off.

Rust is an oxide, and can and usually does “puff up” as it forms.
@Cyndakaiser
@Cyndakaiser 3 күн бұрын
@@coreylevy7Sure, but rusted bare metal still looks nothing like that. Though rust will bubble out paint and have a shape something like that, but just drops sitting on the surface, not dripping down it. So before he tilted it would've been better, but this isn't a painted surface, and replicating a piece of metal with the paint rusting off seems like it'd take quite a bit more work to do faithfully.
@Leonpavo
@Leonpavo 3 күн бұрын
Rust qctually adds mass to metals. A rusted piece of metal weighs more than the original metal itself.....and it puffs up. But yeah, this effect aint it
@Cyndakaiser
@Cyndakaiser 3 күн бұрын
@@Leonpavo Yes, but only if left to rust in a totally undisturbed environment. The weight of the added oxygen is negligible compared to iron, and the iron oxides (rust) soon begin to separate from the base material as it continues to oxidize. Mass will literally be carried away as dust by a gentle breeze.

One of the main issues with using CA glue on foam is that it will melt the foam upon contact. This is because the fumes released by the glue react with the foam, causing it to dissolve.
@LockProps
@LockProps 17 күн бұрын
Interesting, I haven’t had that issue happen yet on EVA foam, but I can see how that would happen on something like styrofoam, but haven’t tried that out personally.
