Magic!Their voices were made for each other, and the radio engineer got the elusive Sun Studio sound with ADT on the guitars! Golden! Too bad they couldn't keep it going, remind me of Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, another vocal marriage made in heaven.

For graemeselkirk: This is priceless information, and exactly what I might have expected. Labour of Lust was my turning point. I had grown up on The Who and Beatles and Stones, etc, and Rockpile opened a new door for me.

"The Album" - due to my age/lifestyle at the time, here in the UK, I missed Eddie's music!. Travelling Canterbury to Ashford on top deck of an otherwise empty bus, (in January 1962), and talking about Music, My friend said His elder Brother was selling a second hand LP. 30/- new but he needed cash - I paid 4/- for 'The Eddie Cochran Memorial Album". Just as Brian said it blew Me away!. I was already dancing Rock and Roll, (from age 13, 1956), and stopped in 2018. Thanks Eddie, Superb Music. Hey, 'The Stray Cats' gave us brilliant music too!

That’s the age I discovered rockabilly, 13yrs old, got told to home an get changed into school uniform because I turned up in an all black ted suit , my metal work teacher loved it as he was an old teddy boy, headmaster not so much, im 56 now and still into rockabilly . Once it gets in your skin it’ll never leave you.

This was broadcast on Capital Radio in early 1979 (?) as part of Nicky Horne’s evening show “Your Mother Wouldn’t Like It”. Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds dubbed themselves “The Beverly Brothers” for their set. A few of the songs were released on an extended play (EP) 45rpm record that was packaged with the Rockpile album. (Rockpile were Dave, Nick, Billy Bremner on guitar and Terry Williams on drums). The highlight for me was the boys’ cover of a Dave Edmunds album track (maybe an original?) called “What Looks Best On You Is Me”. Dave and Nick got into real faux “Everly Brothers” territory with their acoustic take on that song. And they also played Nick’s song/Dave’s chart hit “I Knew The Bride”. Even the between song comments/banter/ background interjections were quite amusing, especially with Nick’s quick wit. Classic stuff. Nick is still touring, but Dave has retired. And we should remember the late Roger Scott - radio DJ (and a man who guided some of my own music taste) who was in the studio during this set - may you Rest In Peace sir.

Good stuff! I don't understand how he's not more popular than he is, most of the music that is out now is total crap, people should appreciate this kind of music much more than they do.
