You are approching movies wrong. A movie that is too long is a movie where it just stops doing new things. It doesn't add conflict. It just meanders with no point to it. Holding shots too long, making characters who serve the same purpose, or simply having no coherence. The actual critique in a movie being too long is entirely separated from the actual runtime. I have seen 80 minute movie that were too long and I have seen 4 hour movies I was dreading the end credits. If you go into a movie that is long and looking to justify its runtime you will lose. There is no justification. There is no reason any movie needs a single minute. No reason other than artistic intent. If you are Marty Scorcese and you make Killers of the Flowermoon to be a breezy fun blockbuster then yeah it is too long. But if you want the audience to feel bad for the Osage tribe and think about all the other people who are being opressed by the entire community they live in? Then you nailed it.

Fan of breaking bad. But goat is hyperbolic. A few seasons in the middle dragged. Lest we forget other tv greats. Northern exposure. West wing. X files. The wire. List goes on.

I miss when The Boys was actually about superheroes. When it was about capeshit, corrupt corporate culture, and greed. Why the hell did they turn it into partisan political commentary? Its some of the WORST commentary I've ever seen in media.

Better Call Saul surpasses TWD too. It’s boring in a good way. You aren’t meant to see Saul Goodman from the start. You’re meant to see him develop into what he becomes in Breaking Bad and what he becomes afterwards. It ended on a high note as well.

Kirkman is a hack. He forced Darabont out and got a long, boring franchise of shit. Invincible is heading in the same direction. Hack.

Definitely a lot of people stopped watching The walking dead after they killed Glenn. I never watched the show myself but out of the 8 friends I had who were watching it, 6 of them just fully stopped after his death.

I just realized in the title screens that the first season the color was yellow and blue from mark suet slowly getting bloody in the end of season 1 which is the shock and rawness that mark had seen, season 2 it was red and black probably for the burden blood shed mark had to deal with but is slowly cracking and breaking in to blue and black which is the same color on marks new suet in season 3 which might be a sign of change in growth 🤔 8:32

Once they did Glenn like that, I decided to just treat that final scene-where they don’t show who died- as everyone’s death scene.

breaking bad has arguably the worst ending out of any show i have ever seen, if the show ended when gus went boom, it would’ve way better but no, everything had to go downhill, mike had to die, season 5 was hard trash

I think the way to put it is twd starts off strong throughout the 1st half and breaking bad does the opposite yet the early seasons aren’t bad to twds awful later seasons. Twd has the best start to a show and breaking bad has the best ending. I also think twd moves to fast with too many filler episodes yet less contributing to the actual story making it seem slow and the characters relationships and such going to fast, like how Maggie just takes over hilltop so fast when Jesus should have. That’s my opinion.

as someone who watched breaking bad before the memes then rewatched it after them, i’ll say the only scene that I didn’t follow the emotional beat of the story was in fact hanks death. I seriously burst out laughing seeing walter make that face but to be honest the death is only really impactful to me because of how abrupt and surprising it is. once I know what will happen it’s far less tense so i think it’s not the memes fault.

with invincible, the comics didn't have a spiderman parody they actually just had invincible going to the marvel universe, i guess for the show they couldn't get permission to do straight up spiderman, so it was either A: a funny spider man parody, or B: and B (this is a stretch) spider-verse style alternate reality spiderman

Tbh though. At this point if the MCU did this. It would just seem like they’re being copy cats. And why does everyone bring up She-Hulk. It’s a parody show… it’s not meant to be taken seriously in anyway. It’s barely canon.

I like The Boys, but I didn't like Invincible. Invincible is supposedly trying to subvert the boring cliches of superhero genre, but most of it's runtime consists of boring cliches and storylines and characters we've seen a million times before. The plot is just not that interesting, I guess I was expecting more because of how overhyped it was at the time. The first time I tried to watch it with a friend we both fell asleep actually while whenever the new season of The Boys comes out I stay up all night because I can't stop watching it. Not to mention the animation is very lacking despite being praised for some incomprehensible reason, it looks like something college freshmen would make. The artstyle is also not my cup of tea, it's giving generic cashgrab reboot of your favorite childhood show, it already felt stale even when Voltron came out so I have no idea why they insist on pumping out more of the same thing, but seeing rigid conformism in such a show is SO not helping. Overall it's way too safe for what it's trying to do both in art and in storytelling. I have no idea why Invincible has the stench of Big Corporation all over it while The Boys doesn't even though they're both from Amazon, but it is what it is. On the other note, I don't think seasons 3&4 of The Boys are as bad as people say, I think it's just that the novelty wore off and the long wait makes people's expectations brew too much. Obviously they're not as good as the first two seasons, but they're still really good, you can't even compare them to the other stuff that comes out nowadays, so I don't get the doomposting.

9:04 ngl, the Spider-Man parody was a bad example here, since in the source material this literally just was THE Spider-Man. I know that's random to point out but I've seen a lot of people who genuinely didn't know that. Agent Spider was only there for legal reasons

I recently watched breaking bad for the first time (few months ago), having also known most of the memes. It definitely didnt ruin anything about it for me. I did kinda chuckle in those dark moments that were meme'd, for example walt's reaction to hanks killing, but it didnt make it any less tense
