The best part was how we didn’t discuss it as a school, everybody just did it like we telepathically agreed to do it. Honestly these memes made me dicover breaking bad, so for people like me its done a benefit of telling a still amazing story. Edit: Figured I’d put my reply here to those confused by my wording. Being born in the early 2000s it’s not like we were able to watch it when it aired on television, as most parents wouldn’t let 6-10 year olds watch it. I think all of us knew about breaking bad, but watching it and getting interested in the show took initiative. I see a few people apparently peeved in the comments by it and it’s pretty funny how gatekeepey others can be.

That only enhances the drama though because it opens up a larger range of emotions to work from. This is something a lot of shows don't seem to understand.

It didn’t take the tension away for me, and after I told my grandfather about it, he watched it and finished both breaking bad and better call Saul within a month! I can confidently say, it was the whole intrigue of what exactly these posts were meming on that got me to finally watch the show. And no, none of them ruined the experience. In fact, it had a sort of progression of "haha oh my gosh she said the funny Skylar White line" into "oh sweet jesus that's what they were talking about." The way you analyzed the difference between the way Breaking Bad was meme'd in 2013 vs now really made me think about how, if memes can be considered art, the people alive during certain art periods might have understood and or were entertained by the art without really being able to explain it. The explaining and analyzing being left to art professors of the time or art historians. The way we look at art periods like Impressionism for example might capture what made the art period special to the people of the time but maybe those people wouldn't have been able to examine their current art in the same way...

I actually don’t like that it became a meme, it makes an amazing heartbreaking show feel silly on rewatches. Especially parts like Hanks death and the crawspace scene, it’s hard to not hear the funny sound effects and vine booms in my head.

@@ryan-jamison I just did a complete rewatch of BB and BCS and the memes have not ruined or even dampened the shows tension. The only moment Kinda ruined is the bus scene in BCS but that was already a goofy meme scene
