Do you have any tips for me has a new firefighter
@jamesrader33297 ай бұрын
Yes. Listen to the people that's been doing the job a little longer than you have. And pay attention to your surroundings. And one more thing. Ask questions. Even if you think you know always ask questions.

It's not a disqualifying health condition here in MI anyway, you should be fine as long as your diabetes is under control. Best of luck to you my friend!

what switch do you hit when you turn on sirens? where is it in the truck up above or on the dashboard?
@jamesrader33297 ай бұрын
There's 2 pedals on the floor and one knob on the dash. Both the officer and driver can control the sirens.

The p.a.s.s device is built into the air pack. So when you turn it on it comes on auto matic.

Hi! Thank you for this overview, I’m an Australian, so the only real knowledge or experience I have is through tv. Now my question in watching ‘Chicago Fire’ in an episode they showed what I thought was standard ppe, it was an alarm/flashing light that was activated when the firefighter was no longer moving, is this a real piece of equipment or just something created for tv? Regards Jo Qld, Australia 🇦🇺🦘🐨
@centralyorkfireservices70753 жыл бұрын
Hi Jo! Thanks for the question. Yes, we do have something called a "mayday" alarm. Not as cinematic as something you may see on TV, but a practical and important feature on our radios for use in a firefighter-down scenario. Here is a link with more information: www.fireengineering.com/firefighter-training/firefighter-basics-calling-the-mayday/#gref
