How long did you soak the clutch plates before starting the installation process?
@mattyb77363 ай бұрын
I soak mine for at least an hour, get them out of the packet and into a container big enough that you aren't stacking them, cover in oil then get tools out and start stripping the bike down. You can get away with a dip and install, but soaking is better. Won't hurt if you leave them in a covered container overnight or longer.

Has anyone tried the lowered seat Triumph sells? It is 20mm lower, heated, $510. Seems like a lot to pay for 3/ 4 inch gain, but may be worth it.
@Carlisho3 ай бұрын
I bought the lowered heated seat for my Rally Pro and to be completely honest I did not notice a change at all. The lowered seat feels the exact same as the standard seat. My guess is that *if* the seat is actually thinner to make the height lower the difference is only at the rear part of the seat, which is honestly weird because the back of the seat is the widest, making it even harder to reach the ground. It is heated tho which is a plus if you have a Pro instead of an Explorer, but yeah dont bet on it.

@@Carlisho OK, thanks for the input. I would like to try it 1st. before purchase, but the dealers will not allow me to try it out . They say it is electronic, so no returns. I have the Rally Explorer.

I just looked at mine. How does the mesh come out? Does it have a tab to push down to take it off or just grab it and pull out? I've broken many little tabs in my 68 years not doing things correctly

There is a tab on top of the mesh plastic piece. Get your finger on it push down...pull the top of it down and wiggle it out.

I had to get the dealership to come get mine with 400 miles on it. Clutch would slip big time. I have 7k miles on mine now and everything is good. I'm nervous though. I'm keeping my Tenere for a backup. It took 4 months to get clutch parts in Mississippi. My dealership is f==king terrible and will lie all day long..

I have the same bike and have the same concerns with the cams. Yours don't look good at all. They're clearly scored. I'm not sure I would've taken the dealership's word on that. Those should be replaced under warranty, while you still have it. My bike won't see 20,000 miles before the warranty expires, but I'm going to pay to have the inspection done a month before my warranty is up. If mine look like yours and they tell me they're fine, they're going to have a fight on their hands.
@MikesGarage4096 ай бұрын
I agree on the cams. I have a 6 year warranty. I do trust my dealer, their mechanics are sharp. I had them document the cams with those pictures its on them if it causes any damage since they did the work and the cams are documented.

Thanks for the video Mike! Im mentally preparing for the same service wanted to ask about the cost of it. My dealer gave me a quote for 1800 just for the cams inspection on top will be the yearly service cost.

@Spartan1925.6 ай бұрын
What was the total cost? Thanks.
@brianalbee28816 ай бұрын
I've seen costs vary greatly depending on the dealer and region of the country you live in. Put it this way...one dealer in MA was $1900- where as a dealer in NH was $ 1300- for the 20k service. I would do all the fluid changes prior to brining it in...including clutch and brake fluids. In doing this it would probably save me $400-500. I would let the dealer replace the air filter as they are already in there.

@@MikesGarage409 ...holy crap! The price of the valve services alone maybe enough for me to pass on this bike and get another goldwing. My wing has only been back to the dealer once in 40k. Never a valve adjustment nor will it need one.

I’m 11 months late, but only just watched this video. I think the service manual you were looking at was for the pre-2022 Tiger 1200; that one calls for replacing the final drive oil at break-in. According to my owner’s manual’s maintenance schedule chart, the 2022+ Tiger 1200 doesn’t need the final drive oil replaced at break-in, just every two years regardless of mileage; so you don’t need to worry about it till the bike is two years old. Still a great overview of how to do it though; thanks for that!

Hi, congratulations for your videos. I would like to ask your opinion on two aspects of the Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer. The brake fluid reservoir is positioned in such a way that it is difficult to fit a tank bag. Have you tried moving it? Do you have any advice on a bag that doesn't impact the handlebars? The exaust is very close to the passenger seat, can it be a nuisance in summer? Thanks a lot Guido (Italy)
