Why is there a need for democracy or rather, any particular governing system to win? Is there an absolute righteousness in the way to govern? America were not so democratic when they try to force democracy on other countries isn't it?

Democracy is an important factor of controlling government power and prevents the people who hold power abusing it and using it for their own gain rather than for the people’s. This is done in a democratic state by having elections and holding those in power accountable for what they have done. Elections do not only help to hold a government accountable but also they let the people participate and have their say in the political process. The people in a democratic system will be able to influence government decisions by joining political parties, joining pressure groups, taking part in protests and many other ways.

Scandi66 great, you have interest of the people's liberty. But look at usa, when you have 50/50 votes it is chaotic. Personally i do not hold freedom and liberty as priority. If a country collapse and go poor, whatever freedom and liberty you speak of cannot be fulfilled. Singapore needs to work harder and stabilize its existence in this world before it has the capital to create freedom. Democracy as usa has demonstrated is not doing so well for its people right now.

Why mention USA? There are many, many countries in this world where the votes are like that. That is democracy, and tell me which country with collapse because of democracy? Do you know any? You prefer dictatorship where the rulers are the rich and the workers are the poor?

Scandi66 democracy is no tell sign for a country's wealth distribution. Both USA and Singapore are democratic and capitalistic countries. Basically, the rich get richer. But it is the communistic "heart" of the system that they provide health care and welfare to the people by taxing the rich heavily. Singapore has the best model balanced to achieve the best results. Firstly, we have a democratic voting system allowing the citizens to freely decide which governing party to put in power. We then foster a meritocratic and capitalistic culture in grooming our kids and next generation in their abilities to survive in the world. Its only when the country grows in wealth, quality of living and standings in the world that we then in turn create a welfare system based on communism by funding and supporting the less fortunate and less successful citizens to move on. Authoritarianism is required in order to keep the system together. USA is failing on many fronts when it tries to rule its country on ideology instead of efficacy. It has the biggest debt of all countries in the world. This is the example of a country that promotes democracy, or rather undemocratically forces democracy on other countries performs. USA is serious broke as fuck. All its democratic freedom and luxuries are basically at the expense of the rest of the world.
