Drop the sub frame about 40mm and the ball joint comes out easy as I found out after beating it for ages with frustration

Thank you for sharing that. I certainly would do that if I ever had to do that job again. In fact, I would buy a new arm with the ball joint already attached as well.

Really useful video. Seems relatively simple to do. My 2.5 is struggling on startup and I'm having to pump the pedal whilst turning over to get it to fire up, could this be a potential solution? To go really shoestring, are you able to clean the valve instead of replacing?
@shoestringmotoringАй бұрын
Doesn’t sound like this is your problem actually. You can try to clean it. There’s not much to it and it’s easy to remove. Your issue sounds more like crank trigger. Need putting on diagnostics

Is there a way to change the duration of recording for way more than 3 minutes??
@shoestringmotoringАй бұрын
I don’t think there is. The device keeps on recording but in small chunks. It makes it easier to find things if you have too. It’s basically to record accidents.

I'm going to try to do this on Thursday so thank you for the video. I'm sure it's obvious to everyone but once the new plate and lock are together how do you put back in position?. It fell out when removing so do I reposition it from under the van? Or is there space radiator side.? Hope that question makes sense. Thanks agaiin
@shoestringmotoring2 ай бұрын
Glad the video helped. It’s a bit fiddly to be sure, but I managed to squeeze the new one in place from the top in front of radiator. I did have to wedge a gap as didn’t take all the grille etc off. Take your time and you should figure it out ok.
@jacintalarkin2 ай бұрын
I just want to day thanks so much. I managed to get it done today. Had same issue with the threaded bolt so luckily I knew that bit from the video. My key part was lower too but worked. Only issue I have is when the key turns to 1 it doesn't seem to click. It opens on 2 but the bonnet doesn't seem to be fully closed. Wonder what that could be? I'm just happy this 48 year old woman could do this job.
@shoestringmotoring2 ай бұрын
@@jacintalarkin well done! You can adjust the position of the lock with the fixing bolts. The holes are slotted to allow for this, so if the bonnet seems too high, loosening the bolts and letting the lock slide down a bit, will fix this. Mine didn’t click on position 1 either but, same as you have found, the bonnet opens on position 2. When the bonnet is in the down position and the lock adjusted correctly, the bonnet should be level with the top of the grill panel. I’m sure you just need to do some minor adjustments and everything will be cool 👍

Ouch! I’m very sorry to hear that. I hope it gets sorted easily as I really like that car. Thanks for letting me know.
@chrisdbf2 ай бұрын
Sadly the damage was excessive. We shattered 3 rods which put holes in the block and sump. There may be more damage as we delve deeper. It also lifted the blower, which is now seized. The blower lifting also damaged the body. There was a small fire, so some bits are crispy and needed to replaced.
