Amazingly, Darcy didn’t know Crenshaw had broken his putter until after the round. He thought Crenshaw was putting with irons to try to slow the ball down on the lightning-fast greens.

Just read a Guardian article stating how cringy the speech was with a link. So clicked on and sat that watching a perfectly reasonable speech. In other words never criticise the thin skinned press.

So much is made of this. The real concession should have been Jacklin to Nicklaus on the par putt. These are conceded all the time. You can even tell in the annoucers's demeanor. It was not a big deal. No, OMG, he's conceding the putt....nothing. Mr. Nicklaus, he's the consumet professional in all aspects of life. And Jacklin is one as well.
@VinnMan
@VinnMan Жыл бұрын
Jack's putt was way too long to concede at that moment. Jacklin would have never heard the end of it, considering how the USA had been dominating the Ryder Cup back then.

Was he using a sandwedge or a 60° here in the bunker?

No, more of what Dan Grieve calls his "Release 2". Focus on the Handle of the Wedge and where his Hands finish in relation to the Shaft and Clubhead.

I'm looking at a freeze frame at 0:29. Seve is gesturing with his right hand to show what you must do to keep the club face open beyond impact. Just look at the gentle way he holds his hand to illustrate. That gesture tells you more than anything else I've seen or heard about how to release the club and how much touch you should strive for. He is the greatest master of the short game.
