That mandarin 100% had bacterial fin rot.
@shallowreefing2 күн бұрын
Probably. What do you think caused it?
@MW-ut3dk2 күн бұрын
Something seriously wrong, suggestive of bacterial infections, running a UV? Wondering also about tang aggression… fins looking really chewed up on your fish. Purple tang going postal?
@shallowreefing2 күн бұрын
I’m not running UV currently but it is definitely a thought. I’ve been watching the fish and I don’t see any aggression. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t get aggressive around night time

Sorry about your fish losses. My Flame also passed around 8 years from what I think was natural causes. Spend as much time as you can with Benji. Having just lost a dog a couple of years ago, that is going to be tough. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas.

Have you had any Zoes die? Maybe their toxicity is in the water. Because, those fish are around them constantly.

No zoas have died. I’m running carbon too so I’m not sure. I may switch out the carbon and see if that helps

at least two of them fishes eat from the sandbed, and ur sandbed is full of cyano. I think the toxin from the cyano is your main problem here. Torn fins isnt always aggression

Lost a Blue Throat trigger last week randomly I think from a bacterial infection. Hopefully things get better from here. The wrasse may have had internal parasites/worms looking at its stomach.
@shallowreefing5 күн бұрын
It might be a bacterial infection or a random parasite. I’ll never know. I did an aquabiomics EDNA test and it didn’t look like anything bad was in the tank. It’s hard to lose your fish. I’m sorry about your trigger.

Nice, thanks. FYI. It’s pronounced KEE-to, like the diet. KEE-to-MOR-pha. In taxonomy (and probably everywhere else too) “ae” is an “ee” sound. Same in “algae”: AL-gee.

Go bigger if you can. You can always turn it down. But the 150 would be fine

My experience: Have 2 small Hygger wave makers; 4years old and 3 years old. The basic Controller options are where they fall short compared to the higher end stuff that I lm using. They have more than adequate control options, nonetheless. Another issue is they don’t offer very many larger tank device options. Hopefully, they will one day. Regardless, mine were worth every absolute penny I spent on them. If one of my Hygger flow mules breaks down I won’t think twice to replace it with a newer Hygger model. After watching this, without hesitation it will be a part of my newest 60g build. Should be perfect for my needs. Thank you for the great content!
@shallowreefing5 күн бұрын
Glad I could help! It's nice to see Hygger expand their offerings to larger tanks, they've really been nailing it with their smaller pumps.

Nice I use some of their light for freshwater. Only have 1” Durso on 180, have Sicce Syncra 3.0, Sicce 3.0 SDC retuning through AC, and Neptune Cor 20 at 30%. The 270 ordered with 3 1” trains so hopefully can close loop the UV and and turn up the Cor 20.

Struggling with exactly the same right now, our dory is just like yours, same size, we’ve known her for 10 years. Shes currently laying on the sand and floating upside down after acting just like yours in your videos, feel so sad, they do become pets. The situation is exactly the same down to the floating, rubbing, getting stuck on heads, brown markings around face, redness under mouth and on tail, stomach sucked in etc. feel so hopeless. Thanks for videos

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s really tough. All fish eventually pass but it’s hard when it’s your favorite fish. I still don’t feel the same about my tank after Dory passed. I even got a new dory, but it will never replace her.

Have a 180 for a 2-3 years with curve 7, got the Elite INT 200, managed to shove into the sump Trigger Triton 44 V2, ordered a custom 270 gallon yesterday 96x27x24 I think about as big a tank I can fit to replace the 180. Running ozone so to me having the ozone intake on the Elite was the deciding factor.

I do wonder about long term reliability and power use-35 watts is quite high. How does that compare to your varios pump at the same flow rate? How’s the noise and vibration?
@shallowreefing24 күн бұрын
Varios goes up to 98 watts. It was drawing roughly 42 watts at step 3. I have silicone tubing on the pumps so it is definitely quiet for both pumps. Obviously the $450 pump is better. But this budget option is great. The prices in the hobby have gotten out of control and I appreciate companies trying to deliver entry level products to help newer reefers.

Just popped one in my 75 gallon. I actually wasn't going to buy it on the blue colour alone. But I went on Amazon and they had grey/black. I bought a Fluval 8 months ago. Died. Total junk. So I dug around and thought I'd give it a try. I've been doing freshwater aquariums for over 30+ years. I know what I like and want. Seems like a solid purchase It has so many settings and that can be intimidating. We'll see how it goes.
@shallowreefingАй бұрын
Good luck! I’m a set it and forget it kinda guy. I just do random mode and increase the intensity based on how the corals react (or how dirty my pump gets 😆)

I personally use Min S and their reef biotic bacteria. And i have been really happy with Min S. Its very concentrated. Corals love it. Even small size bottle goes a long way.

Fauna Marin is onto something with Min S. It’s soo easy to use and adds particulate to the water that corals need. It really is a great product!

When you bought the 200 did you buy the "base" tank and stand, or the "complete" versions they have on their site? Curious if the plumbing comes the same for both versions.
