Sorry you went through this but we knew this about vibrant already. Years now

Yep. I knew the risks. So got no one to blame but myself. Better to share my experience than to not show the downsides. I’ve had success in the past. But past success doesn’t always dictate future performance.

I had the same thing happen to me trying to fight bubble alage. I thought I was the reason why so many of my corals had died. You may want to try using Brightwell aquatics Purit to remove the vibrant in your system. Not sure how well it would work however Purit is know for removing a wide range of impurities from the tank.

I’ve thought about using purit. I got some ready to go. But I did a decent water change and added GFO and carbon so we will see if it stops. One of my sunset montipora is dying though. So we will see what happens.

@@shallowreefing I hope that it stops. It's always a gut punch when the corals are doing well then take a turn for the worse.

Saltwater hobby requires having a cyclef hospital tank I feel like. Never know when im gonna need to isolate and treat a fish or evacuate and treat the display tank. Ive ordered vibrant, spare pump and kight for an extra tank ive got, and will be dosing after removing most inverts

Vibrant is an algaecide. There's a whole thread on R2R.
@shallowreefing Жыл бұрын
Yep. I know this and discussed it in this video briefly and in previous videos.

This is the reason I refuse to spend a lot of money on high end corals.. one mistake away or a piece of equipment failing..

That’s for sure. Buy what you like and not what everyone else is hyping.

So what you’re saying is, you didn’t follow directions. Directions say every 2 weeks.
@shallowreefing4 ай бұрын
Or every week depending on the level of dirtiness in the tank. Maybe new bottles are different but old bottles said this. Do your own research before using.

That’s definitely not safe for that continuous using that stuff it’s too strong

It's definately is to be used with caution, personally I have gotten much better results by doing the following: Dosing daily instead of weekly/bi-weekly, obviously divide your planned weekly dose by 7 days then dose that amount every day. I think this is more gentle on the livestock rather than bombarding them with a larger dose weekly/bi-weekly. I always start with a very low daily dose, around 25% of my intended target dose & build it up over 2 weeks until I reach my target dose. Once the bubble algae seems to have fully died out I continue the full dosing for 2 to 3 weeks & then reduce the daily dose over 1 to 2 weeks before stopping completely. To make daily dosing less of a chore I simply load up a large syringe of Vibrant (or similar product) & store it along side my fish food, then every day when I feed the fish I also dose the product via the syringe, which only takes a few extra seconds. You pays your money & you takes your chance ✌
