I was in Germany this past August and early September drank a LOT of Augustiner at various Braeustube in Munich, as well as Hacker-Pschorr and Spaten. Could't find the St. Geogenbraeu in any of the other cities I visited.

I thought this was pretty poor myself. I had the original at the pub and didn't think it was upto much. I love me good old Traditional Ales, but just couldn't see what all the 'hooraah!' Was about. Of course, we all have our own tastes, (quite literally in this context 😂) so we can happily agree to disagree on this can't we. 😋👍

Dark, nutty, mahogany color, foam quite abundant in ivory color, falls quickly. Caramel dominates, some chocolate malts, red berries, dried fruit with an emphasis on raisins and figs. Cookies and spices in the background. Quite sweet, oily with low carbonation.

Bought 8 bottles of this yesterday, here in Sydney, for $48. I love this beer mate. So glad it impressed you. It really is a fantastic drop - it has everything. And, you're so right - it is typically British! And as for your review - I'm so impressed I subscribed. What great delivery and detail. Love it!

Thank you for that video. You chose one of the best Doppelbock beers from Franconia. Please note: always choose a dark Doppelbock, not a heller Doppelbock. It's a big difference. 😊

I regularly buy these in a 4 pack from Aldi. It's about 5.50. Can't go wrong. Such a nice winter one to take my time with, on a weekend, while it's blowing up a storm outside and pissing it down. 😂 Love putting my 'fake fire' on and letting the 'flames' flicker against the glass and through the Ale.

I had the 2024 version. Straw, clear, rachitic foam. Delicate notes of red orange in aroma. Semi-dry, lemony, a bit of ice tea in the taste, no orange. Medium bitterness, grapefruit, slightly rough. I was disappointed. It makes me want to say: Bloody 'Ell!

Absolute cracking review mate, just as I'm drinking one. Completely agree. Here in South Australia where we're told is the hottest driest state on the hottest driest country on earth I have to say Pilsener edges out everything else when it comes to thirst. The shop I go to is giving away 2 Weihenstephaner 500ml steins with every 6 that you buy. Cheers.

Supping it now in Sept '24. Tastes better than the Warstiener I have just opened. Both from Tesco's. Clean, medium malt taste...but I'm really keen on the hop character. Worth another go, I reckon

The sweet, earthy, malty taste you get after a hoppy touchdown from a spicey peppered sky battle. It's bang on target, and I sank a few!

Yeah i tried this a couple of Weeks ago. I thought it had a bit of roasted flavour coming through on tasting it, but it just 'sloped off' to practically nothing. I had a similar expression to yourself. 😂 That kind of disappointed, unimpressed look. The only Guinness i drink these days is the imported one that's 7.5%. Not because it's pretty strong (though it helps 😉) but i think it has much more character than the draught version. Cheers Fella. Damn shame what companies do for cash ain't it. They think we all drink from our toilet or somethin'? 🤣

Recommended with caution? Daaaamn Dude! Doesn't hit your spot does it. 😂 I usually have a few cans of this in the old 'Beer Cupboard' for a 'skint week' or whatever. My local asda do ten cans for nine quid. Ain't NO light getting into THAT! 😂 I've also sern Old Peculiar in a four pack in Asda. That would be decent to review perhaps? 😉 Upto yourself of course Fella! I'm partial to a splash or two of Dark Rum myself at Home on free Weekends. Nice to top off a couple of Bottles of the Old Crafty 'Ennn. Haa!👍🤝

This beer is very popular at dance music festivals and certain ravey nightclubs. Its sold in these places at about 6 or 7 quid a can. Im not interested because i never drink in such venues. If there's something really decent i might be tempted, but i cant remember when that last was. Im happy to stick to water or soft drinks. If i want to drink beer ill go to a beer festival. Red Stripe seems to have got this image of being a beer for laid back, hippy type, festival goers. Like that disgusting Strongbow fruit 'cider'. Sadly a lot of people buy into it and are drinking the label. If they were for real theyd want a proper lically brewed beer done by people who care about and take pride in their beer and not concerned purely on image and profit. Unfortunately a lot of festival goers and clubbers aint got a clue. I try to educate them though.
@heiltd1286Ай бұрын
The comments towards the end are spot on. They are actually in accord with respected beer sites Beeradvocate and Ratebeer. Yes most people in the UK are happy to drink trash beer and the multinational brewers know this and pander to their poor taste. The problem is this acceptance of rubbish manifests itself in other aspects of life in the UK like the state of its politics and the country in general. Of course, at its best, English beer is the best in the world, but your average stupid, supposedly patriotic English football watching prick would rather drink some piss poor imitation of a trash foreign lager rather than a quality English beer thsts part of our culture.
