@@mutezone To be fair, there wasn’t any DAB only radio stations, the DAB multiplex only relayed the nationwide networks. Retailers didn’t market DAB/DAB+ capabilities as a selling point, only as a secondary feature. But on a sad note, almost all FM radio stations are controlled by oligarchs close to the government, so there’s no real competition on the radio market. Almost all radio stations radio stations cater to people older than 30-35, without any station for young people. Fortunately though, Slovakia has Rádio_FM, which is a very alternative and eclectic radio station. It airs music you truly never hear anywhere else.

Absolutely. This video was to advise those 1st time buyers what to get with it. I doubt you can get a better DMR radio for the money.

Yes it is in French. It was RTL Luxembourg on 234 kHz which ceased its Long Wave service last year.

No worries at all. I could not connect to my local repeater again anyway. I have found a Wires-X room that I can talk to you from my Hotspot which is also on a repeater. Its the America Link room, 21080. That way I do not need to rely on my repeater. You decide when we should try a QSO.

IMS is supposed to suppress multipath signals,. EQ is supposed to make the sound cleaner by reducing white noise. This is the best explanation I have come across. I have never used these two functions as such as I have not come across any multipath problems yet, nor any white noise apart from weak signals.

Maybe the battery on my XHDATA D-808 has discharged over time, but it still lasts a good amount. The PL-330 lasting longer is based off my experience & will probably differ with others. I think the D-808 does consume more power but I cannot confirm & it needs a scientific analysis.

Congrats on getting the D-808. I agree with RDS for the XHDATA, I don't know why it is not included in the Tecsuns.

@@mutezone especially that RDS is a technology from the 80s or something like that. Nothing new really. That is one thing that used to bug me a lot in PL-330, more than the DSP silencing when searching the frequencies.

Thank you for the information. That was the reason why I bought the dock charger seeing other peoples comments about how long it takes to charge the battery with just the wall plug. I have already been receiving comms from my local repeater, but the signal sometimes drops out so I am still waiting for my hotspot which should not give me that problem. Cheers from M7EIW>

You have a good point. I am not convinced by Droidstar though because sometimes the transmission quality can be average. For eg, I use my Baofeng handheld for DMR & people have complimented me for my transmission quality, so I prefer handhelds even if talking through wi-fi. I know I don't need the repeaters, which is why I ordered another Hotspot which I mentioned in the video.

Because we like dedicated radios for each mode and band. Your cellphone is useless in an emergency when you have no power for your internet connection or hotspot. This radio is dual mode both Analog and Digital. Repeaters or Simplex try that with your app.
