Im probably suuuuuuuper late but the ice mages wouldn’t get the brutal ability. The red city only gives Brutal to physical attacks, not elemental ones. Great vid tho

Damaged units are not removed until after the relevant combat phase, ie. Space units that are destroyed still get to attack before being removed. Therefore both attackers and defenders both get full attacks before casuaties are removed

If I'm revealing the 3 rebel icons and for example I reveal one rebel icon and then a imperial icon, can I use this imperial icon already for the Imperial systems or do I have to find all the 3 rebel icons first?

What does "gain 2 loyalty" mean? A planet only has 1 influence slot. What does this mean?
@olebrommm6 жыл бұрын
if a system had localty from the other faction and you gain 1 localty in that system., that system goes back to beeing neutral. by gaining 2 localty you can turn a rebel system into a imperial loyal system with that misssion, and wise versa

Read point C of rulebook Damage: to you and/or units for unblocked attacks, one at a time in any order a. Each enemy deals damage equal to attack (double For Brutal ) b. May assign damage to unwounded units. Place wound on unit and reduce damage by armor c. Resistant units: reduce damage by armor. If all absorbed do nothing, else wound unit and reduce damage again (once per combat)

Very nice vid. I struggle to find anyone willing to play this with me, because it takes at least 1h to explain the rules alone (your vid is 38 mins long, and you talk fast and are not interrupted by questions). Then it takes additional 30mins to setup the board. Now it comes play time, which is 45 mins per player at least. That counts easily to 5-6 hours, and not many people have stamina and concentration to endure this :(

Hi Mario, I agree that the first few games will take longer. But consider: Rather than teaching a 6 player game, start off with 2 or 3. (I think the best number for Eclipse is 4.) Set up the game before they arrive. Play. They can help you put away stuff. So your first game will take about 3.5 to 4 hours. However, on later games, you won't be teaching, and they can help you set up and tear down much quicker. I regularly play Eclipse with 4 players, and setup, game and tear down is 3 to 3.5 hours. (If people know what they are doing and play fast, we might trim 30 minutes off of that time.) I usually set up the game before they arrive, so it is faster for my company. This is one of my favourite games! Warm regards, Rick.
@mjanusic Жыл бұрын
@@RicksPoker Hey Rick, I played a lot of Eclipse since my last comment. It is very good game. It started as my favorite game, but in last couple of years I must admit other games took over the throne (like Gaia project, Terraforming Mars, Brass: Birmingham, Great Western Trail, Ark Nova...). It started to slowly slip from the throne when we figured out all the games end in a similar fashion - one last big epic fight in the galactic canter. Maybe it is like that because of the people I play with. Do you have different experience? We tried pacifist tactic, but someone with big guns always comes and destroys everything :) It also heavily relies on the die roll, and we started to move away from luck based games recently as a group. But don't get me wrong, I still enjoy playing it as I love game mechanics and the feel of the game. It is still in my top 10 :) It just ends up on a table as a group choice less often then before...
@RicksPoker Жыл бұрын
@@mjanusic Hi Mario. My experience will be different from yours because I've bought "Rise of the Ancients", and "Shadows of the Rift". In addition, I've printed out player mats for 3 new races I got from Board Game Geek and one, (the Arachnids), which I made myself. Since the second edition of this game came out, I modified some of my components to make it more like the second edition version. So it is likely that most of my plays have been very different from yours. All that said, if someone goes for the Galactic Center, they better be tough, because the meta at our table is that that player needs to be cut back down to size. Typically, the GCDS is taken out with 3 or 4 turns left. So we have a few turns to attack each other after the centre opens up the map so we can all reach each other. (Or reach most others.) When I'm playing I want to be able to beat a single Ancient ship on turn 3, and best the GCDS on turn 5 or 6. Now the unique techs in "Rise of the Ancients" likely speed the game up a bit. You could try adding one turn to your games to allow more time for people to fight each other towards the end of the game. Glad this great game has gotten some play! Warm regards, Rick.

Does putting cards sideways enchance the attack or something?
@mikejonesnoreally6 жыл бұрын
In a sense, yes. You can play any card, other than a wound of course, sideways as a +1 to movement, attack, or influence. This mechanism lends the game it's amazing versatility and more importantly, almost perfect balance. :)
