Hi Dave, What are some alternatives to assembly-level features for match-drilled holes and cuts? Assembly cuts are affecting the load times of large assemblies for me. Due to 100s of hole features in my assy. Are there any creative alternatives to represent holes in assemblies that you have seen or used?

How do you automatically know the scale when importing a sketch from the palette, or how do you calculate the scale for the palette sketches?
@CADPLMGuy
@CADPLMGuy 4 күн бұрын
Hold off for a couple weeks and I’ll have a Creo 11 video that shows how the latest version addresses the import scale. If you’re asking how I happened to know in this particular video demonstration, it’s easy. I develop and practice my demo prior to recording it.

I have used Normal to projection to sweep a profile such that surface is always normal to mid plane which I used as normal to projection. Upon mirroring surface across the same plane , I got tangent continuity between two surfaces

I found some but it was same as modeling. you have a lots of video in modeling but about manufacturing it is not . any way one more thanks for your nice ptc training video. god bless you . 👍🙏🙏🌹🌺

I've actually been thinking about making some manufacturing videos. My biggest issue is that it's been at least a dozen years since I've done any Creo traditional subtractive manufacturing. There have been SO MANY enhancements in that time - really amazing - and I have not kept current.

It's a huge leap and I think you'll be very happy. The UI is so much better, you've got Multibody, and so many enhancements around patterns, holes, sheet metal, etc. I think you'll be amazed. Every once in a while I jump back into Creo 4 and I'm surprised.

In summary, anywhere you place a geometric point (from the datum group in sketch tab) you will get a datum axis when extruding that sketch. Also, that point act as a datum point outside your sketch for other features. You can see it when the show datum points is activated. If you want a reference point in your sketch but dont want a axis there, just change it for a construction point. Construction features/items only can be used inside the sketch. Geometric features/items can be used outside the sketch.

Is the creation of an axis via placing datum points within an extruded sketch section new to the latest version of Creo, or has that been a an included feature for previous versions of creo? If so, which version was it implemented with?

I can't believe I've been using creo for 3.5 years now and I'm just now learning about this capability. Up until now, I basically only used the datum sketch points for creating pattern seeds lol. This is going to be game changing

Thank you very much for the videos. They are all incredibly helpful!!! I have created some Datum targets in the same manner, but when I show them in the 2D drawing some of them wont show the target areas. Some will show the target diameter and some won't. Does anyone know the reason for this? I've searched the internet and to no avail......

can you use the graph feature to manipulate an extrude rather than a sweep?
@CADPLMGuy
@CADPLMGuy 14 күн бұрын
Yes. But Extrude features don't have a trajpar parameter. You can extract a single value from a graph for the Extrude's depth, thickness, or a sketch dimension, but that's it. You can't change the shape of the Extrude feature with a graph like you can for a Sweep.

In Creo, I missed a feature to annotate the 'Orientation dimensions' in order. When I do it last, it makes them out of order. To keep them in order, I have to delete and re-annotate them in the annotation feature. Is there any way to rearrange the order without deleting them?

I would be interested to hear what kind of issues you experience with Teamcenter. I have found that there are parts of the interface that are nice, better than Windchill, but the infrastructure is a beast. The architecture requirements are intense and difficult to maintain.

How do we calculate the mass of the cable and their CG for overall mass property and CG caldculation? Both CG position and mass are critical to us.
@CADPLMGuy
@CADPLMGuy 29 күн бұрын
I think I touch on this in my video on Cable Spools. If you specify the spool's linear density (note that linear density is the mass or weight per unit length, not unit volume like regular density), you should be able to calculate mass properties as usual. It's been a few years since I've done cabling and made this video, so I recommend testing this to be sure and reaching out to PTC Tech Support as necessary.

Is PTC Mathcad Express Prime good for working and conversation?
@CADPLMGuy
@CADPLMGuy Ай бұрын
On the Mathcad website, you can see the differences between Mathcad Prime and Mathcad Express. It's mostly advanced functionality that's not available in the free version. People regularly participate in the Mathcad Community Challenge using the Express version. It's free to try, so why not give it a test drive? You get 30 days of full functionality before it automatically reverts to the free version. I don't know what you mean by good for conversation.

Thanks for watching the videos. Honestly, the best source I've seen for information on BMX was this old (paper) manual from the 1990s for the PTC class "Consistent Innovation with Behavioral Modeling." It covered everything and the functionality is still relevant. Maybe you can find it on eBay.

Hello! I'd like to ask a question. Is there any way to determine the coordinates of the intersection point of two lines on a single XY graph? The fact is, I haven't found any results regarding this for PTC Mathcad Prime 10.00.00. It's possible to use horizontal and vertical markers, but they don't allow for setting precise coordinates. I've also seen that some people could open a context menu by double-clicking the left mouse button on the line of one of the lines on the graph, but this doesn't work in Prime 10. In any case, I haven't found an answer yet. If you can help, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance
