I was a volunteer stage hand that weekend and got to set these guys up for their rehearsal Friday night at the Walker Center. I was sworn to secrecy as to what album they were going to play and it was so much fun to watch these professionals rehearse. Red Young has to be one of the best keyboard players around, watch the video of the Waybacks doing "Higher Ground" in this set and you will agree. If you are going to cover Stevie Wonder, you better have the chops.

I just love Marty Stuart! Fabulous job on this song with the Superlatives. Had the pleasure of seeing him live at the Tuscarawas County Fair in Dover OH during his "Hillbilly Rock" phase in the early 80's. It was such a thrill to see someone in the top country charts at such a small venue. And yes, I along with many other females had a huge crush on him.

Attended a concert where Marty and his band opened for Chris Stapleton. Marty and his group were a superbly professional, organized, tight band! Meanwhile, Chris Stapleton rather sucked; all performing like a bunch of amateurs; and all looked like they lived under a bridge. My date got bored and left early. I stuck it out to see if things improved; it didn't and I left shortly after.

He always does his best to get his hat in Marty's hair. Those two are so much fun to watch. And obviously good friends with lots of respect. Rare thing these days.

They covered a song by Tom Petty, Marty Stuart has tons of originals that are quite famous also. I just loved this version of this song.

Can't possibly be any good, they're not over accentuating a southern twang , modern country music absolutely sucks , it's sickening to listen to

Great band and it is no wonder that Marty played mandolin for Lester Flatt at the tender age of sixteen.

In 1985, I was a broke songwriter, looking in the alley dumpsters between 16th and 17th, to see what the record labels were rejecting, and a free copy of cash box, or billboard, a week old. Marty comes driving through, in an open red jeep, with a roll bar. He had a camera man in the back filming him pass me by. Got his Columbia 8x10 photo.
