Yes, you are right I own XL in black, but is a little roomy it works with heavy layers

I just got my first high-quality flannel shirt, an olive one from UES. 15.5oz. Best shirt I've ever owned! :) I was really interested in Iron Heart previously, but I decided to pass and forget because of the long sleeves. However, I do own their M65 Sateen jacket, and I absolutely love it.

We live in the golden era of heavy flannels. I lean towards UES, but love both. UES still has that small hometown Japan heritage about their brand and way they do things.

I have both kinds of UES and IH UHFs. Many of both. Started with the IHs then got the UES. I significantly prefer the UES shirts ( both of them ) over the UHFs. My two cents.
@Beyonder18818 күн бұрын
Interested -why you prefer the UES?
@jdaasbo8 күн бұрын
@ on the lighter 14 oz UES the texture of the fabric is amazing. The 15 oz have great texture as well but their main advantage is just a heavier duty and warmer shirt. The UES designs/patterns I think are more interesting as well. The Iron Hearts are great, don’t get me wrong. But their downsides are super long sleeves. I’m 6’4” 200 pounds, long at,s ( 35 inch arm in a dress shirt ) but the iron hearts are still super long in arm length ( I go XXL or XXXL depending on how a batch measure ). The texture and feel or the aspero cotton is nice but not as much as the UES. If the UES cost what the IH cost and vice versa, I would still prefer the UES. But at the price of UES, it is a no brainer for me. The iron heart denims and wabash variants are out of this world and far better than any other manufacturer that I have tried. Don’t get me started on the Iron Heart suede or horse leather shirts. Those are killer.
@Beyonder18818 күн бұрын
@@jdaasbo Thanks for the detailed comment. I guess the IH make sleeves so long because its a motorcycle clothing company so you want longer sleeves when riding etc. Im yet to try any and will only do so if I can try on given the high price. For UES I have ordered online and have both sizes 3 and 4 in flannels- older batches 4, newer ones 3 as I think the sizes increased a little (I'm about 82kg/180cm). Wearing the red UES UHF today!
@UrbanLadUK7 күн бұрын

I too have UES and IH. By far IH are a denser nicer flannel. But, UES do have their place.
@michaelshearer35598 күн бұрын
Maybe the 14.5oz, but not the 15.5 oz. Both great options and different designs over the years.
@UrbanLadUK7 күн бұрын
I love both. It is difficult to pick one over the other
@jamieward35748 күн бұрын
It's all about fit for me, which is both subjective and personal to body type. UES wins hands down in that regard. Despite that, I've been wearing a UHF today

Have you seen the new levis 1961 type 3? It is similar to this but obviously lower weight, just picked one up myself and it is amazing. Lemon yellow stitching, dark denim and very neppy and knotty fabric.

Great video. One question about the Ironhearts. On their website, they advertise two chino cuts -- 730 (regular) and 731 (relaxed). Weirdly, the 731 relaxed fit, which is bigger in the thigh and knee than the 730, is slightly smaller in the hem. Which model are you wearing here -- 730 or 731? Thanks.

Great and in-depth video! Thanks! But I do think, if I'm identifying it correctly, that the Studio D'artisan is 12oz Suvin Gold cotton? If so, that would arguably make it the best quality? Or is this a different model?
@UrbanLadUK9 күн бұрын
It is an early version. I want Suvin Gold 👍👍. The quality of the cotton is better, but still, I believe the Aspero is just a little bit better
@Qash929 күн бұрын
@ yep, fair enough. I have the Suvin Gold version which is amazing so that’s why I was wondering

I´m from Germany too. I've been wearing Merz by Schwanen since 2012 ( first sold via Manufactum-Stores). Unfortunately, I've also noticed a loss in quality in recent years. Stitching is no longer done neatly, and Merz has hired contractors in various countries. Under “Production” you can now find on many products: “This garment was manufactured by one of our partner companies in Portugal”. To my knowledge, not a single sweatshirt is made in Germany anymore. As a result, Merz unfortunately follows the same path as other companies. The expansion and scaling of production at the expense of quality. The price-performance ratio is no longer right. I have a tip: I have to check the quality first. The Reverse Weave collection from Champion.

world class video! Quick one: I am from Germany, actually living 40min from the Merz B Schwanen production. Let me tell you with a very very sad heart that the quality (raw materials) has noticeably declined due to them having gained huge popularity with the „Bear“ show. Not only have the increases prices across the board but also they started to cheap out on raw materials (Tees, Sweatshirts, Hoodies) Very very unfortunate
@duethe692913 күн бұрын
Basically they had to ramp up production to supply the demand and traded profit for quality
@UrbanLadUK12 күн бұрын
Sad to hear that because it is the only competition for the Japanese loop wheel products
@duethe692912 күн бұрын
@UrbanLadUK yes there is a disconnect, the people making the clothing (south germany) vs the people running the company (north germany) they want profit over everything Unfortunate case of greed

Have you ever looked into Wonder Looper? I have the Iron Heart and love it, but I find my 20+ ounce WL hoodie far more interesting. They're designed by the same individuals who run Naked and Famous, so of course they went out of their way to make the heaviest hoodie on the market. I'd suggest checking it out.

I think iron heart is the best all around. Sizing is always posted and you always know the quality is good and they are usually one washed so you don’t have to worry about shrinkage. The customer support is always good as well. This is why IH is popular.

Do you have a peacoat recommendation. I know real McCoy makes one, was looking at Belfast and private white as well. Just any guidance would be appreciated
@UrbanLadUK13 күн бұрын
My recommendation is to look into Buzz Rickson's. One of the best is 36oz 100 % Melton wool and faithful to the period. Private Whites are very nice, made in England of 30oz of British Melton Wool. If you pick the BR from a Japanese website like Klatxon, Japan is cheaper, or in the UK website, I believe it is around £700. I own the Buzz Rickson’s and great peacoat

Last time I bought LVCs was around 2015/2018 when I bought 1976 and 1966 -models. They were expensive then, around £170 but worth the money to me. £300+ for some LVCs now is just silly.
@UrbanLadUK22 күн бұрын
You are right, but Bears Japan still sells LVC at a reasonable price, and it is worth looking at. I am always looking for a barging and this place it is good

Diego, thanks for the magnificent review. How do you wash it the white one in order to keep it sparkling white?
@UrbanLadUK23 күн бұрын
I use cold water and regular Persil non-bio 3 in 1 and plus Vanish Oxy power to wash the white denim shirt. That keeps the shirt white and does not damage the fabric
