We found our baby in the engine compartment of car we were looking to buy. She was approx 4 to 5 weeks old. She will be 2 June 5thish..... She has all the traits described I the video. as someone who owns well bred hybrids (Chausie, Caracat), I'm seriously on the fence about this. no, I do not support the random and irresponsible sales (oftentimes illegal) of exotic cats. I blame social media for the "sudden upsurge" in popularity. especially with stupid TikTok and (or) yt videos that only focus on the "cute" aspects of these animals and normal cat owners see an "emo pygmy puma with sabers" online, expecting ""normal "" domestic cat behavior. no. any ethical caracal or serval breeder (and believe me they are out there) will heavily vet potential clients first. to the point of seemingly driving said clients away from a sale, much like ethical dog breeders I know. behavior- Caracal are odd, even for wild cats. they hiss and growl as a preferred means of communication instead of 'meowing' .. now 90% of the time this isn't aggressive. it's just how they talk. they have different hissy growls for different things and (as an owner) it's up to you to learn to talk to the cat. also, there's spraying on walls/ furniture, hit&miss with the litter box, they'll need their own decent sized room of their own plus an outdoor enclosure. all raw diet is a must!! switching out proteins is crucial to keeping them healthy. from RMB, whole prey and an even mix of offal, fat and taurine rich muscle meat Basically these cats are a serious decision that should be treated as a lifestyle commitment and change. years of research should be done my recommendation is at least 5. not to mention look into state, town and even county laws...because if you illegally aquire an exotic pet and keep it, who do you think is going to suffer in the long run once it's confiscated?? ok I'm done..putting away my soap box now
