In regards to the use of steam to help shape felts, caution should always be used as too much steam can overdo what you are trying to achieve and may in fact loosen it up too much. We are not using steam here in the video as this is just for tutorial video purposes. The use of gentle moderate steam, little at a time will help if working to tighten the hats features, just don't use too much!

@gustavogirotto working it by hand when needed will help but may need regular agjustments. For a more secure shaping to the rear of the brim, its best achieved with the correct wooden brim flange block. Nothing beats having this equipment I'm afraid. If you don't have this equipment a professional hatter should be able to offer this service.

@chay1993 to clarify, No, all Indy Poet styles are blocked on the same set of blocks, graduated across the size range to keep every hat in balance no matter the wearers head size. So all styles start off at the same specifications for open-block crown height. It is the hand-shaping that gives each different style it's distinctive look.

@Caretaker6139 what style of Indy fedora do you have? If it's a Raiders Turn or Cairo Poet, the front pinch should not be in line with the back seam of the sweatband, this is correct for those styles and you should wear it with the pinch lined up at the centre forehead with the back seam of the sweatband sitting off centre. Please note that we do not force distress our hats at all using fullers earth or any such techniques. We advise any clients wishing to achieve a distressed look themselves to research the pros and cons of distressing techniques and to proceed with caution. Better still the natural distressed look achieved through years of adventuring with your hat will by far provide the most natural looking results. So all our Indy hats are provided in new condition handcrafted to the main standard on screen styles as our originals featured in the movies. Should you prefer something that differs from these styles, the best option is for designing something custom crafted to your preferences. We are currently offering a wait list for custom services as these are on pause due to the high demand and orders queue at present. Our Chronicles Poet style may interest you though, this was the same hat style used as the base model and adapted to first create the Raiders Poet design. It's the hat as worn in the Indiana Jones Chronicles TV series bought from our store in its original shaping with its more relaxed front pinch, wider ribbon, no turn and full non-dimensional 3" brim. This is also the same style used to create the original brown 4th Dr Who Poet hat as worn in the classic TV series. So this base hat design is literally what was used and adapted into the Raiders Poet, you could imagine Indy himself buying this off the shelf and asking it to be adjusted in the same way to his preferences. So this might be an option for you, or perhaps the standard Raiders Poet which is what it became and what was supplied to set for filming Raiders. I hope that helps.

Thank you for your feedback. In regards to your hat ribbon query, we'd recommend that the existing ribbon be removed and then securely and neatly reattached at the correct tension. Alternatively, you could replace the ribbon for a new one if desired. You may also wish to consider unfolding your sweatband and to use booster strips behind it instead for a better fit and neater finish, this will also help to preserve the hats components for longer and avoids distortion on the felt that can result from the long term folding of a sweatband. Indy wears a Herbert Johnson in every movie except Crystal Skull in which he wears an Adventurebilt and just to clarify Stetson did NOT make the hats for the movies HJ did. The reason your hat doesn’t look like Indy’s is because it isn’t the right hat. Stetson got the license to make the officially licensed hats for the public until Last Crusade but a Stetson hat was never used in any of the movies. This is a common misconception I would recommend doing some research on the Indy hats it’s quite interesting. There is nothing costume like about these hats they are very real and well made beside men wore hats like this all the time in the 20s and 30s.

@TheAngryNerd64 Is 100% correct! I think Disney and dorfman have officially licensed Indiana Jones hats also.. But as was pointed out, none were used in the movies. Herert Johnson makes he finest fedoras that you can purchase. They make hats for the Royal family. They would wear only the finest... So does Indiana Jones.

@Lostinfo132 Hi, no they aren't. Hat sizes from different hat types, different brands and from US/UK can vary considerably. Always check with the particular hatmaker in regards to your correct sizing for their hats. We recommend ordering your handcrafted hat from us to your correct head measurement taken directly in centimetres. If between measurements, round up to the nearest available size (or join our waiting list for when more sizes and half sizes become available again.

@federicolopezmusic the Raiders and Crusade styles are blocked to the same specifications and brim width yes. There are differences in how each style is shaped by hand though in the crown and brim shaping which gives the different style looks. Hope that helps.
