@@SailingSweetRuca Are you coming to Australia, they have strict quarantine regulations similar to NZ!
@SailingSweetRucaКүн бұрын
We choose not so subject our 14 yo dog to that. It would not be in her best interest so while we have Roxy, we probably won't come to Australia. I've also read most beaches and parks to come ashore aren't pet friendly so it's not ideal even if you do get checked in?

Hi Guys, How Are you..👏 I was reviewing your videos in the Chilean Patagonian fjords, Wonderful.✨ My question is: How many feet of rope did you need during your entire passage through the Beagle and the Strait of Magellan during the moorings in the coves.
@SailingSweetRucaКүн бұрын
Hey! We are well, and hope the same to you! We had a total of 4x floating shore tie lines, 110 meters each. There was one anchorage we put out two extra lines during a strong storm (two 50ft nylon mooring lines connected to spare jib sheets). Here is some more information about the anchorages and gear we carried sweetruca.com/patagonia-cruising-notes-overall-route/

Really good video. The drone shots along with your other videos while you were there showed just how beautiful American Samoa is. And the people you met were amazing. The smiles when you are sailing says a lot though. Keep having fun and stay safe.

We weren’t aware there was a requirement 🤣 Joking aside, each sailors skill level and risk tolerance is different, and one needs to be responsible for their own choices.

@SailingSweetRuca13 күн бұрын
We didn’t need it. As a sailor, you need to evaluate your own risks and act accordingly while offshore, each situation is different. Be safe, but don’t live in fear.
@Rittlesleo11 күн бұрын
@SailingSweetRuca I agree. Perhaps my 70 years make me a more cautious sailor.
@davide.lionetti19 күн бұрын
out of curiosity, why don't you just: - head up directly into the wind (you seem to be a couple of degrees off) - trim in the mainsheet almost completely to keep boom under control ?
@SailingSweetRuca13 күн бұрын
Heading up into the wind in swell has its own set of problems. Trimming the boom into the cockpit also presents issues, and will not allow the sail to be hoisted as it will catch the lazy jacks.
