The waste cut off by the mold is called the sprue. I collect that on a small cookie sheet, and then they go back into the melt. The crap floating on top of the lead in your pot is called "dross" and is easily skimmed off with a steel spoon. I use an old METAL coffee can to collect the waste. If your lead is really dirty, you can clean it up by adding a bit of paraffin or sawdust to the melted lead and then skimming it off as dross. Keep ALL water away from your melting pot at all times. Work in a well ventilated area. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. If you wear a respirator, get one that actually mitigates lead fumes. If you use old tire weights in the melt, just know it's not pure lead, which is fine. I use it all the time. It has antimony in it, which makes the cooled ball harder but lighter than pure lead. If you dump into a plastic pail, add water so the lead quenches fast. This will make them harder also, all while not melting your bucket. For more info on casting, look at muzzleloader or reloading forums for help. Im getting to this video after two years since upload...you probably know all this by now...but i thought I'd chime in anyway.

Next time get your dad to ask at the garage when he’s there for service. They usually have tons of lead for balancing wheels, and they’re happy to get rid of it. The bad beads were probably not hot enough lead, or you need to preheat the mold (if it was mostly in the first batch or two) Also, make sure to wash your hands after using the lead balls. You really don’t want lead residue on your skin.

From what I understand from other videos from there those deer are hunted very hard and have become a tough challenge for a bow hunter. Apparently, quite an accomplishment getting one down. 👍👍

Crazy! This is the first time you guys ever showed on my KZbin feed. WTF KZbin? Anyway, as an ancient bow hunter I’m enjoying this video. All those targets everywhere has got to be awesome. We don’t have these stinking things free range in the Texas panhandle like there. Big pay to hunt game farms down south have goats and exotic sheep for $ to hunt. “ Hunt Life” channel in Australia bow hunts these things along with pigs and deer. Fun to watch all you guys getting it done. 👍👍
