You know the bore is gone when the bushing/sleeve just comes out. They are a very very tight fit.

We're to begin at on how to fix this so it doesn't crack out again. On the vertical seem repair it needs to be cut out and a insert with radiused corners needs to be installed . Prepped and cleaned from all paint and grease. The top plate on the arm with the crack needs to be cut out past the end of the crack and the replacement plate needs to be smaller then the vertical insert . Top insert also need to have radiused corners too where it lies in the arm . Normal square edges on the outside of the arm . Leave a 3/32 inch gap around the insert bevels . Make sure it's clean and let her rip

Damned skill workmanship there. A torch, welder and portable line bore and his repair is top notch in my opinion. He is very skilled cutting with an oxy torch too.

This welding video is showing how to make a decent weld for a decent wage most likely. In other words good enough for government work. I give credit where credit is due. Also note, American workers are loosing their jobs to migrant labour. Migrant’s, They will work! They will usually work for less. Most have a good work ethic. The skill level is often stronger and they usually have a strong family bond and respect for one another. Strong family units. The Americans today are mostly spoiled couch potato digital gaming types that are fixing to lose their shirts to a whole new breed of skilled workers. I’m an American that was taught how to work at a young age and have made my living with my hands and have a multiple skill set. Time’s are getting harder so my advice would be put your noses to the grind stone and at least be willing to compete. Also please note that (illegal) migrant workers should not be allowed to take any work or government subsidies. Farmers hire workers that will do the work that Americans turn their noses up to. We have a rotten self serving bunch of politicians in DC and sorry woke US citizens that will not work. We are now controlled by a Marxist regime. X-nay!

You were on the right track, until you put in those wide weave passes. That thick backing plate also creates a stress riser on the inside of the component, pretty much guaranteeing a future failure in the same area.

Well most everyone beats these machines beond there cap. Then a welder is asked to make it new again. Wore out abused junk is always junk. And yes they break again. But welders keep them going.
