I almost did this with one of my favourite films because I thought the fragrance that is referenced in that movie wouldn't suit the main character... I didn't in the end because I thought no one would have seen the film 🤣 cos I'm old 😂 but if I were making a fragrance line, that's what I'd do essentially... I would love to try the Atkinson's, p Pirates' Grand Reserve and also the Serge Lutens La Couche Du Diablo. 😊

@@katekhara I’m out of the loop for a lot of pop culture but I can see how fun it would be, especially if you got the references. Other kinds of lists that might be outside the box but fun and creative would be perfume by colour or texture or feelings. Side note, I just tried the new Zoologist today King Cobra. Wow! I’m so intrigued. After about 5 mins I start really liking it. Excited to play with it!

@@katekhara ok… this might be outside the scope of the video, but I love getting in the heads of other perfume lovers. I love hearing stories about how they fell in love with scent in general (I know you kind of covered this in a recent tag video), but also the stories about our relationships with specific scents and how we interact with our scents over the years. I’m sure videos like this won’t get tons of views but I personally find them the most enjoyable and are certainly more memorable than just listening a bunch of notes…. I guess like the emotional and psychological relationships we have with our fragrances. 🙃

A fun vid Kate! Incidentally, my nephew asked me recently what I think Shrek would smell like and I was stumped. 😵💫😄 Onions and swampy fart gas maybe? 😂 Certainly Josh Meyer's A City on Fire during the castle scene, but on the regular...who knows? I know Dark Rebel from Varvatos was always a favourite for Jack Sparrow, but the drydown was a bit sweet for his character. Megamare for Davey Jones I think. 😉 Hope you're having a great weekend!

Oh my gosh! Where did you ever find Elie Saab #10? I looked for that one for months and months and gave up. I ended up getting a decent dupe but I would love to still find a bottle of that one. I am also a Serge Lutens fan, in fact his house was my first foray into niche brands many years back before youtube even :o). Hi Kate, I would say my chypres all have that vibe honestly in comparison to modern fragrances perhaps? I own Galop and it has a distinct quince note to me and I wonder if that is what goes sour on your skin? Agent Provocateur; I tired a decant when it came out and liked it a lot, but I wonder if it is still as good since I see no oak moss in the current notes? I am tempted to pick that one up as it's not expensive now. oxJulia

Maybe you are right about the quince note, I am not sure 🤔 About AP, my personal attitude to discontinued fragrances - if I can get it now for little money, I can get it and sell it later (it will cost more anyway and there is a chance I won't lose money on it). I love it though!

I love Patchouli Intense, but I apply only one , max 2 sprays. Once I forgot whar bottle I was holding in my hand, apllied 4 sprays of PI and almost killed me + familly around me. When I want to feel confident , strong and "untouchable" I wear La Panthere edp.

Before you started, I was thinking about what gave me this vibe and I instantly thought of Chanel, really No5, but the flankers too, even Coco and Coco Noir. Le Lion is beautiful 😊 My great uncle wore Paloma Picasso and I have a tiny vintage bottle of it from 1993 because every time I smell it, I think of him. I think chypres in general would be my choice here too. 🥰

Eau Premier is one I need to sniff, I do love the OG it's sooo good on me. Oh Le Lion is absolutely gorgeous 😍 gorgeous, one on my wishlist. To me it's like an interesting Coramandel. Yes papyrus is an unusual note isn't it but definitely very recognisable. I didn't know that a rose was a nurse in the wars. I will remember that now 🙂. Patchouli Intense was a bit too much for me. But yes it's a very good one. Yes more very earthy dark type. Yes Agent P is a really nice actually 😍 great description. The ones that make me confident and strong are Amouage Silver Oud and Swedofts Bohemian. Big ones. Fab video 🙂

Hi Kate, thank you for the video on this interesting topic! For me the boss lady is probably the scent of leather, like Tuscan Leather from Tom Ford or adding Tuscan Leather to Forgive me by Carine Roitfeld. Have you tried them? If yes, what you think about them?

I recently smelled Gold Man by Amouage and that reminded me of a boss lady in a very expensive power suit, how funny that they put it as 'Man' 😂

As a guy, I luuuuv wearing Patchouli Intense. Still my fav from Patricia, although New York is not far behind. 😉 I just adore her classical style of blending. Unfortunately with the modern gourmand trend, I haven't heard too many great things about the new sweet line. I'm more interested to try Une Fleur en Mai and Victoire. 🥰 It's a brand that I just resonate with.

Lol, I am vintage sort of. My signature scent, when I still had those, was Mitsouko in perfume version and l also wore many bottles of Shalimar perfume. If I had to choose only one perfume for the rest of my life, it would surely be Mitsouko! That started in my late teens early 20s and I am 63 now. I have a large collection of vintage perfumes as well as my niche and designer bottles. It's so nice to see younger woman talk about and love chypre perfumes and the classics! oxJulia
