I was at this. Pretty young at the time, my recollection is they were short matches, and a lot of them ended in penalty shoot outs. We were there all day, loads of matches, they'd never be able to arrange something like it now.

Cowans, Mortimer and Morley were my favorite Villa players from that era. Anyway, the team that won the League and then the European Cup had great balance.

A few errors in this game, but very entertaining and plenty of goals. Villa had a powerhouse midfield, and you can see why they won the league. I can't understand why Morley didn't get into the 1982 WC final squad.

How amazingly fabulous to be able to watch the whole match and not just piddling 'highlights.' A match with no shirt pulls, no diving, no pretending to be injured . . . so unlike today's game with every form of cheating now accepted and expected.
