Strange to see the League Cup semi final being played in December of 1970. Nowadays the semi final is normally in January. 😂 Weird eh. 😆 Unfortunately for Villa that season they went on to lose 2-0 to Spurs in that 1971 League Cup Final at the old Wembley.(Martin Chivers with both goals)

Cowans, Mortimer and Morley were my favorite Villa players from that era. Anyway, the team that won the League and then the European Cup had great balance.

A few errors in this game, but very entertaining and plenty of goals. Villa had a powerhouse midfield, and you can see why they won the league. I can't understand why Morley didn't get into the 1982 WC final squad.

How amazingly fabulous to be able to watch the whole match and not just piddling 'highlights.' A match with no shirt pulls, no diving, no pretending to be injured . . . so unlike today's game with every form of cheating now accepted and expected.

I was a 16 year old Londoner living near Liverpool and a Villa supporter at the time and went to this game. Either under my own steam or dad took me in the car - can't remember. Was upset at the result :-) Amazed it's on KZbin in colour 52 years later - and amazed I'm still alive to see it.
