Villa were going through a transitionary phase under new manager, Brian Little but still managed to produce what was their best performance of the season against a very difficult to beat Wimbledon team.

Drew 4-4 with Leicester (I know, I know) in the midweek game following this result. 16 goals at Villa Park in about five days.
