How about the center row?😊❤

After you have made the side units - you just add one to each side of the center - and we sewed the center and the sides on camera- the book has clear photos of each step

This is one of the best videos on log cabins...I am a 60+ years seamstress and couldn't get this block to turn out accurately. Kaye's tip of sewing on the back side and finishing the log, is SO helpful. Will try it in the future.

Does the book have the history in it? Or is it just the quilt designs and instructions?
@KayeEngland19 күн бұрын
Yes the entire story of odette
@KayeEngland16 күн бұрын
I assume that anyone who follows me would know that I am all about quilting. I don't write HISTORY books, yet quilt blocks/quilts that honor women, with a bit of the womans story included. Hopefully all quilters will enjoy this story. I would doubt anyone that isn't a quilter would find the book worthwhile, even though we do love our story. Enjoy

Thank you Kaye for the short video. I was pleased to hear about Odette Ueltschi because I knew her. BERNINA Sewing Machines is located in Steckborn Switzerland where I live. Happy quilting 🪡🧵

How very exciting - - I never had the pleasure of knowing her, but all I hear speak of her, is in glorious terms. I'm quite fond of the entire Ueltschi family and of course BERNINA - - Happy it reached Switzerland

I am trying to make a quilt with hst and squares but the hst do not line up, they are wonky. The square is 4 1/2 in. and so are the hst. The square is at the upper left corner and the hst is at the upper right. The 2nd row the hst is at the lower left and the square at the lower right. All squares and hst are 41/2 in. What am I doing wrong? Been trying for a long time to fix this, can you help me. Thank you so much. Carol

Is there a pattern for the runner in the introduction?
@DianaTurner-iu3oyАй бұрын
So if finished is 2 1/2 cut a 3 1/2??.
@KayeEnglandАй бұрын
No. Using rulers you would add 1/2” to whatever finish you wanted if using a ruler. So if I had the half square ruler and wanted a half square triangle finishing at 2”. I’d cut a 2 1/2” strip and use that ruler.

I love how you encourage people to make the quilt "their way". Take away a little on this border; add a little on that one to make it the size you need. Great advise. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

I'm watching this again! (4th time) Thank you Kaye, for all your tutorials! I'm adjusting a big block to make it the size I want. Who knows if it will work out well, but I know it will work out at least somewhat, thanks to this tutorial! I'm so excited to start cutting. I've got my measurements figured out, and how many of what I've got to cut out. I hope you have a great day!
@mike19684423 ай бұрын
In a previous video, you stated that your side triangle is the only piece that you cut larger. I agree! Fabric is too expensive to over-size each and every piece. Our elders didn’t do it back in the day and I’m not either. Nothing I do is perfect and I have accepted that- I do my best!
@KayeEngland3 ай бұрын
I can cut these exact but diagonal sets can move a bit so I overcut a bit just in case. it’s a choice.
