Best reaction ever to this song, thank you for that. If you stick to the lyrics, the song is about a girl having lost her lover and fighting her feelings … but there is more to it. Mainly due to the first verse « oh ma douce souffrance » (oh my sweet torment) which sounds much like « ma douce France » (My sweet France), a famous French song. Implying that her torment is caused by France and by her feeling of being rejected by the country she was born in and where she cannot find her place, because of her foreign origin. Till at the strongest point of the storm she comes with « Je suis une enfant du monde » (I am a child of the world) which clears everything up.

3 years too late I discovered this song and the video and for me its a story that started as a game and ended in love: I think hes playing a game where she dont want to participate after she tried to make him fall in love with her but failed. So she tries to leave the "pre-game" but she's kinda forced (maybe by herself) to play along. While they play (she is trying to get his attention by doing "weird stuff" - him acting cool) she actually (and literally) gets her "head spinned upside down" and shes about to fall in love. (What I think is symbolized in the two whipsers in her ear - the first could tell her that hes in love with her, what she loves about to keep her distance. The second might be a voice in her asking if hes seeing other girls and if hes really interested in her at all - the typical anxiety voice when dating, you know :) - ) And thats when she realized whats happening to her and NOW she REALLY tries to escape but cant. Thats when HE got hooked and he fell in love with her and as soon she realized that hes in love, she unwillingly fell in love too. "Thats the love I dream about" :)

To me the video means something totally different than the song. The video is about a man trying to make her another conquest. She fights off his attemps repeatedly but he is unwavering. (Her trying to escape but always ending up infront of him at the table) She tries and tries until she finally realized what she has to do (the look of acceptance on her face and she chooses to finally sit down on her own) she then has the control and at her first chance burns him. She is so happy to have finally destroyed him. But when she is lit on fire, it's her realizing that in the process she did fall for him and now it's too late so she is burning too.
