I'm new to music, but why does it sound resolved on the c sus chord? To my ears at least. Thought that wasn't supposed to happen? Or am I just as tone deaf as I thought?

This guy is an EXCELLENT teacher. I've watched a lot of guitar videos with some great players and teachers.... some great players but not great teachers. This guy is both. Glad I found this channel.

Should tell them that the A triad is just the lower part of the “D shape”. That way they can start visualizing those for every key and incorporating them into their lead playing as well.

Intervals is just the number system and following the chords of a song essentially.

Incredibly valuable and useful lesson. As someone who has searched and failed to find good videos on this (All of them show you how to solo over chords, NOT get between them), this is super functional and can be used as a platform to create your own licks by moving things around. GREAT VIDEO!

Nice stuff! And then you can invert the triads endlessly! Jerry loved to solo out of chord shapes. I suspect that came from his years playing banjo.

When I was learning bends tuner helped me a lot. I would just bend the string look at tuner and try to get correct note. It really helps to feel how much to bend the string

Sir, if you’re giving a lesson for a song, play the melody of the song or hum it first, so people have a point of reference. Or even sing the first verse. So people can relate to it, then proceed. Don’t assume everyone knows how the song goes, remind them. If you want more subscribers try it. Just saying ok.

It happened to me too. Intended to buy the 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Once I played the 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb (Handwired) at Wllie’s American Guitars in Saint Paul, I had the best of both worlds. The vintage circuit and sound in new construction (hopefully less maintenance issues). Sounds amazing; the 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb came home with me and dented my wallet substantially. Haha

The thing is that when I do bar chords I always end up muting the last 2 strings and I can’t seem to push those down with just one finger.

I'm writing this comment at 0:37 in......Yes, the build quality is there for the $2400 price tag paid for mine new. Setup was perfect, intonation was spot on. Finish was great. Tone was full and balanced with the mid punch that hummingbirds have Ever notice how Gibson doesnt have notched saddle at the B but it still intonates? Its work it. SO much so I got a custom shop Dove 12 string. which sounds even better.

I do my whole acoustic gig on the 12 string now. I rarely play my 6 string hummingbird anymore.

Are all of your licks in B major pentatonic scale? I like the lesson but a bit more details would help,us beginners. Like why are you playing the licks you did , etc? Did you change scales during the licks? This type of information is the best teaching tool rather then just memorizing finger positions. Thanks

I love your taste. I am practicing hard to become good at this type of guitar playing. Was there ever points in your beginner stage of guitar that you felt you could never become good, or you didn’t believe you “had the talent”? Or was it all very clear that you could become good from the beginning ?
