Actually she came back to Netherlands once more, at Heineken Music Hall in October 2007 and I consider it one of her best concerts

Yeah, I wonder why they didn't mention that at all in this documentary. I guess it was her biggest appearance in NL, the Heineken Music Hall is quite a big venue... and she was very well-known by then.

Yes, it's one of the better ones of 2008. But that was a tough year for her, and vocally she wasn't anywhere near her abilities most of the time. Still, there are some good versions in this concert.

I like that concert because she was engaging and intimate with her audience. She genuinely seemed to have a good time.

Yes, you can say so, as Back To Black was released in 2006, not 2005. Considering the writing process and the actual inspirations for the songs, the album, the new style and everything, you could include 2005 to that time as well. I took the timelines from a book by Naomi Parry, a close friend of hers.

There have been many comments stating that her Zenith, Paris concert was outstanding. I am in the minority, because that concert leaves me cold. There was something missing. Her voice was fine, but she was just going through the motions. Her head didn't seem to be in the game. Just my opinion. I think of the October 2007 gigs, The Alcatraz in Milan was one of her best.

I see. I guess it was her vocals that made that show so special - they were just overwhelming in my opinion. The closer 'Valerie' was - to me - probably one of the best, if not the best version in terms of her vocals, she improvised so effortlessly, spontaneously and better than ever. But I get your point, she was somehow absent...

@amysarchive I know it's probably unfair to compare, but I harken back to early to mid 2007. She was having a good time on stage. She connected with her audience. (Mod Club. Shepherd's Bush. Glastonbury, Coachella). She was smitten with the husband. The big problems hadn't hit yet. She was never really able to recapture that later. My favorite Valerie was Paradiso in Amsterdam. She was so polished and dynamic. If it were decades ago, the audience would have thrown her flowers. It gives me goosebumps everytime I play it. BRAVA!

Yes, I adore the Paradiso concert as well! Absolutely love the slower renditions of songs like Valerie or Cherry like they played it that night, really good… It took place during nighttime at about 1 am in an old 19th-century church that had been renovated into a concert hall… Must've been a great atmosphere.

@amysarchive We are lucky to have the audio, although I wish it had been filmed professionally. It has always been a popular place for performers because of the excellent acoustics. I can't remember the specifics, but her concert was voted one of the top 10 in the Paradiso history.

@@DmPmRr1959 I had hoped that the new North Sea Jazz Festival KZbin channel had something in their archives, as they published much unseen footage throughout the last year. But all they had was from the Frank era... No Paradiso, no HMH footage, unfortunately. But still it's great that we got new material from her concerts on Dutch soil in 2004.

Wow 😍 That was an amazing performance, especially Losing Game. Probably the best one of all the different little gigs she played at SXSW that year. Her soulful, raspy voice combined with Binky Griptite on the acoustic guitar.. Phenomenal. When the most stripped-down versions are your best ones, you know you're bloody talented!

Yes, absolutely! Somehow she was at the height of her creativity and spontaneity at that time - even though it was a difficult time for her. Her improvisations during concerts like the one in Paris were utterly incredible.
