I think it depends on what your doing with the car. As a daily I would take the Magnaflow. For weekend hot rodding around Thrush sound a bit more aggressive. 🤟
@kurtmarceb76243 ай бұрын
You would think so, right. But the drone was so bad inside, in the back seat. The Magnaflow seems like it would be the one you'd want, but the Thrush muffler were better inside the car.

whats the 6 bolts called you have to loosen up off the screws to get the lid off the tank, i lost a few and trying to figure out where to find the correct size from
@mrimpala62914 ай бұрын
Hey Caleb, glad you found this video. As I stated in my response to you on the other video, they really don't have a name. They are just nuts. However, it sounds like you lost a couple of them. Take one of the nuts to a parts store and match them up. If you have a tap and die set, you should be able to find the size of the threads. They are metric. Just make sure the nuts are the same style. Good luck and keep on wrenching!

Fuel pump attachment nuts. The fuel tank is studded, the 6 are part of the tank. The pump gets dropped in and the nuts secure it. I don't know if I answered your question. I don't know the screw or stud part can be purchased separately. Just don't break them. If you, still have questions, or if I have misunderstood you, please let me know.

I'm surprised an '89 Caprice has a setup like that. We had one. I thought it had the ring that you tapped to hold the sender/pump in. Regardless, I don't know the exact name, nor do I know the size. I don't even know if they would be metric or SAE threads. It has been almost 20 years. If you have a die set, try and slowly thread sizes that look close. If you find one that fits, write that size down and make a run to the parts store.

If I remember correctly, I got both the pump and the whole assembly(which doesn't include the pump) from RockAuto. Watch my second video on the fuel pump fix. As you could probably tell, it didn't run good. I fixed that.

How many volts should you have going to the pump, without the car running? ( with the ignition key in the on position ) I'm getting 8 volts.
@mrimpala6291 Жыл бұрын
Good question. I want to say 12.6 volts. I'll be working on the car this weekend. I'll try to remember what I get at the plug at the tank.
@mrimpala6291 Жыл бұрын
You do need 12 volts. On mine, the connector at the rear bumper, I had a good 12.3 volts. I need to drop the tank, again, and test the voltage at the pump. You do need 12 volts at the pump. If you have 12 at the bumper then the wiring from the bumper to the pump needs to be replaced. Check the ground from the pump to body. I've read that is the culprit sometimes. Good luck.

Just did this on my White Outdoor mower with the exact same set up. Have to say it did not make much if any difference in steering. But greasing the wheels and axles did make it easier to push the mower around in the garage. Thanks for the video.

Did you also replace the wheel bushings with bearings?
@mrimpala6291 Жыл бұрын
I wanted to, however, there was no videos out on it. So I ordered a set of bearings after measuring the inner diameter but the length was not able to make it work. I couldn't figure out how to get the lengths right. So I put the bushing back in and have been running like that.
@comonbabylightmyfireburn Жыл бұрын
Yes I see the problem with fitting a caged ball bearing in place of the plastic bearings (bushings). The plastic bearings are so thin that the sealed ball bearings could not fit. The other bearing replacement videos are replacing thick metal bushings. When you say the ball bearings you have are to long I think you are saying the distance from the I.D. to the O.D of the caged ball bearing is greater than the thickness of the plastic bearing. I think I read elsewhere the only option is to get a different wheel hub if you want ball bearings for these mowers using the plastic bearings.
@mrimpala6291 Жыл бұрын
@comonbabylightmyfireburn no, I actually mean the length. The inner and outer diameter was spot on. But the length, I couldn't get then long enough and still support the wheel. The same as the bushing supports the wheel. I try the longest ones I could find and they just weren't long enough. I haven't given up on it, just put on the back burner.
@comonbabylightmyfireburn Жыл бұрын
Can you add multiple bearings for each hub? I saw some guy put 3 or 4 caged bearings in his hub to help support the axle?
@mrimpala6291 Жыл бұрын
@@comonbabylightmyfireburn I bought 5 bearings. I forget their length. I don't know if I can weld them together or not, as I'm not sure if there is plastic inside. Like I said, I put that on the back burner for right now. When I get back to it, you'll get to see my crappy welding ability. 😀
