We should all be grateful to Rod Serling for casting Ed Wynn for this role, as well as thanking Jack Palance for standing up for Ed when he had some hiccups during rehearsals. Thanks largely to the efforts of these three men, this became one of the most beloved live TV shows ever produced.

I saw Colin live in concert many years back here in Vancouver and I remember it as being one of the most energized and electric concerts I've ever seen. Still to this day. This dedication/ rendition of an already beautiful song was knocked out of the park. Neither is superior and yet both are literally, Superior.

Now consider the impact a lottery election would have on Gerrymandering. No longer would Gerrymandering work. Furthermore, where you live would no longer have any impact on whether you were proportionally represented. Such a result would be truly democratic.
@dylanhunt3855 Жыл бұрын
Consider, for a moment, the impact a lottery election would have on the composition of Congress. It is currently 80% male. Overnight, that implicit bias against women would vanish, and the gender ratio would increase to 45 - 55%, with a confidence interval of 95%, matching the proportion in the general population. Sortition is proportional representation & inherently democratic.

This guy is so immensely talented and underappreciated. At first I thought it was Van Morrison, but after listening for a while, I know it had to be Colin James. He does Van justice, at the very least. I know Colin is playing guitar, but I wonder who is playing the mandolin?

Sortition doesn't demand that a person compulsorily serve as an MP. If a person truly doesn't want to be an MP, then they should be allowed to refuse. In that situation, another randomly selected person is chosen instead.
@dylanhunt3855 Жыл бұрын
Yes. It should be voluntary. Unlike jury duty.
@Sindigo-ic6xq9 ай бұрын
exactly!

But then the problem is that interest groups or other people could simply bribe chosen citizens to refuse until they find someone who will cater to their demands.
@neilcameron77054 ай бұрын
@@JimmySteller True, but sortition means that ordinary people are being potentially corrupted, and without the careful planning and back scratching that goes with our current systems, it would be much easier to police. Note that there are interest groups already involved in our electoral system. eg lobbyists The question is whether sortition will reduce the effects of this influence or not. I believe it will.

Gimme the beat boys and free my soul, I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away! ~ Uncle Kracker HOLY COW!!! This song was on Majic 100 when they played it in 2006! Memories!!! Especially "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker - what a spectacular coincidence!!
@xplio213 жыл бұрын
Strongly disagree - does not have the same depth and passion as Morrison who originally wrote it for the time it was written. It's good just not something that would make me listen to it over and over. the main part - I don't wanna feel it and IIIIIII wanna rock your gypsy soul part - does not have the same range, depth or passion as the original. Sorry Van's original still the best EVER
