I was aged 6 in 1978, one memory i have carried with me for the last 44 years (approx), being at my Gran and Grandad house, my Grandad played a cassette tape to me, it was Formula 1 racing cars, even to this day, i adore the sounds of the older F1 cars, magnificent sound. Thanks Grandad

It was this drive that convinced Enzo Ferrari to sign Stirling for the Scuderia. What might have been if it weren't for that fateful Easter Monday race at Goodwood.

This is sooooo much better than F1 today. Can't put my finger on it, but today's F1 looks too easy, artificial.

Clone-job cars, with semi-automatic transmissions and _Waaaay_ too much sponsorship plastered all over them. Not to mention the fact of city races & clutter of go-kart circuits are not that appealing - to me anyways. Monaco should be reclassified as a 'Non-Championship' event, since the race is typically over by the time Pole Position has been determined. Less soap operas then compared to the driver's _'Handbags At Dawn'_ that the media seems to be obsessed with these days.

Why people watch F1 anymore is beyond me Big massive Tracks with terrible corners mostly 90° right handers at the end of every straight Well we don't won't the little darlings to get bruised or perish the thought killed

British racing green, the cars raced in national colours before sponsorship came along. Germany white or silver, Italy red, France blue, GB green.

@@robertknight5429 Yes the private entries raced their cars in what was appropriate for them. i remember Siffert winning at Brands in a Rob Walker Lotus 49B . I prefer British racing green to the automotive billboards we see these days.

Problem was, by the mid 60s nearly all the cars would habe been supposed to have been dark green. BRP had bright mint green didn't they? And Parnells had a nice dark blue and red.

I remember watching this race on TV, it was the only race ( apart from British GP) that the BBC used to televise in those days. And I remember enthusing about it with others, next day at school. Obviously Moss' wonderful drive plus how few cars were left in the race, 5 or 6 I think.
