These cars are so small, especially compared with the ones from just a few years before. Example being they fit snugly into the carousel.

I was there as a 23-year-old G.I. -- spectated at Brunnchen. Before the race began, Fangio drove a lap around the circuit in a Mercedes convertible. The crowd of over 300K went bonkers: it was his first appearance there since his epic win four years earlier. Helped by an excellent tire choice, Moss was absolutely unbeatable that day. It turned out to be his final GP win before his career-ending crash at Goodwood.

Look at the 1955 GP for a comparison with front engined cars Fangio in the W196 Lancia D50 Ferrari the next year's race... THEN the Lotus looks FAST! Kiddies! J.C.

British racing green, the cars raced in national colours before sponsorship came along. Germany white or silver, Italy red, France blue, GB green.

@@terrystevens5261 the Moss lotus was dark blue with a white noseband. Rob Walker the owner was Scottish. Any excuse to get away from that awfull dark green!

@@robertknight5429 Yes the private entries raced their cars in what was appropriate for them. i remember Siffert winning at Brands in a Rob Walker Lotus 49B . I prefer British racing green to the automotive billboards we see these days.

Problem was, by the mid 60s nearly all the cars would habe been supposed to have been dark green. BRP had bright mint green didn't they? And Parnells had a nice dark blue and red.
