I like your thinking, but I'm of Shipment age!

Tell me you don't understand game development without telling me you don't understand game development. The folks here have been working on a number of other projects for a number of years. Game development takes time, it takes iteration, it takes patience. It takes going back to the drawing board, trying something new, throwing it away, all of the above! Yooka-Replaylee is much more than "the same game with a filter over it" - There's a bunch of new content and changes we'll be showing over the coming weeks, we've fully expanded the levels, added new characters, changed and added new challenges, revised the controls, tweaked the ways abilities work, added new enemies, reworked areas entirely, and so many more things I couldn't fit into my brain to comment here! While I can somewhat appreciate frustration that it may take longer than you'd like, I think it's incredibly important to remember that game development is not a fixed scale, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment and anger by expecting there to be one. And leaving misinformed, hostile comments on our channel will only get you this kind of response.

@ why couldnt you guys just make a true sequel to Yooka Laylee and put all that time and effort into a new experience instead of attempting to revamp an old one? Let’s be honest, it’s because it’s a cash grab that requires far less time and effort than making something new. The original Rare made Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, DK64, Conker, Diddy Kong Racing, Golden eye and perfect dark in the span of 5 years. It’s taken Playtonic 8 years and counting to release a proper 3D sequel to Yooka Laylee. I don’t need to hear your excuses, that’s just straight up disappointing.

@@chadchadly3564 15-20 people made Yooka-Laylee, we’re now around 60 people. Multiple development teams working on multiple projects. These things don’t have to be (and aren’t) mutually exclusive. We were unhappy with what Yooka-Laylee was and felt it deserved a “definitive” send off. We have a team of diverse experiences working on that project, either learning new skills or building new best practices which, in turn, will help those other projects too!

@@PlaytonicGamesltd cavern of dreams was made by 1 guy. It’s shorter than banjo kazooie but not by a significant amount. He made it in roughly 4 years and it was his side project, not his full time job. So it’s taken playtonics team of 20-60 people nearly a decade to make a sequel to yooka laylee ? Something doesn’t add up. Yooka Laylee was flawed but enjoyable. It deserves a sequel, and it deserved one years ago, not a “remaster”. We should be on the third game already.

​@chadchadly3564 This isn't the 90s anymore, games have become more complex and more expensive to produce nowadays. It's impossible to make a new game without any sacrifices within a year. Go find someone else to complain to, Mr. Negative.
