Um, nope. It’s far more efficient to heat water with natural gas or propane, with them being “heat sources”. I built a NetZero house in 2018, it uses on-demand Rinnai tankless propane water heaters, propane dryer, propane oven & stove. The heating system is a Mitsubishi Air Sourced heat pump (Electric), as I also have a 10KW solar system.. all of the appliances have electric outlets as well as the propane connection, so they can be switched to electric in the future. I believe in energy diversity, and flexibility, as well as using the best fuel choice for the job, and heating water is very efficient with gas, versus an air sourced heat pump.

Is an electric baseboard heater a good option as a secondary heat source in a bathroom which was added in an extension on my house? There are three exterior walls and it is always cold despite there being a radiator. The rest of the house is heated by a gas boiler and there are radiators in the other roooms.

What are the odds that Ed would be right about the energy prices every year since the 70's? I'll join him in predicting that they'll rise every year henceforth. I'd love to sit down with Ed and pick his brain on multiple topics. Men like him and Jay Leno are walking encyclopedias. ❤

I have two. I'm removing the one on the weathered side of the house. The water heater exhausts through the other. If it's not taking up any square footage, and is not dangerous, AND you still have a fireplace, leave it. Figure out a way to plug the fireplace. But make it so you can re-open it, for use. Just in case you NEED it.

Good day, I do have electric base board and wondering if an old style thermostat is a good saver of energy or I should change it also will it make a différence if I tuen it off when I am not home and on in the evening ? will it use more energy to worm up the room or not ? Thank you very much
@lazaroalonso854219 күн бұрын
I reccommend changing every thermostat to digital and then set to comfortable temperature for example 68 degrees. Once it is set leave it alone till the season changes. Make sure to turn power off at main electric panel and verify electric is off prior to swapping thermostats.or you can hire an electrician to do the swap for you. I changed 8 thermostats in my home. Caution, when shopping you will have to get the correct digital thermostat for electric baseboards most thermostats are not for electric baseboards and are not compatible. After moving from a 3 level house with gas heat/ water heater to a 2 level house with eletric baseboard… my bill is 3x what it was with gas and parts of house are still very cold. 1000000% gas is the way to go unless off grid living then wood stove! A single 1500w baseboard heater set to 65° costs me $97 per month in eletric! Just 1! That’s the kitchen great now I have living room one 2 in basement 1 in each of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms! That is $900 per month in eletric not even kidding! Compared to my gas central heat bill was $85-110 a month the heat the entire 3 level house! Trust me eletric heating is a NO NO NO NO NO NO 😊

If you’re worried about issues with air quality, shit the heaters of, vacuum them out, vacuum underneath, and keep your house clean in general you’ll be fine.

My whole house has electric heat. There are benefits to electric: no ductwork, doesn’t take up a lot of space, cheap to install & repair if necessary, heat every room independently, 100% efficiency, maintenance free, just vacuum them out occasionally to deduct dust burning smell, no worries with gas or oil leaks, no carbon monoxide hazards, don’t have to worry about an HVAC furnace breaking down and costing thousands to fix, don’t have to worry about running out of oil. I like it, I like the simplicity and reliability. Yes they are more expensive but there are new smart thermostats from Mysa. You need Wi-Fi to do it, and you can control all the thermostats through the Mysa app. You can set a schedule for hearing, install geo fencing, and lower temps to 55 for parts of the house you’re not in.

I want to use a 48 inch electric baseboard , which would be mounted at the base of a wall with a large picture window . My wife needs the heat to keep her legs warm while working from her work desk . We have two splits in place , but this does not help her at the front window where she works . Is the 48 in electric heater an option ?

Hemp insulation is very difficult to produce because no hemp plant grows the same. Hard to create an efficient production when dealing with material variables. There is a production plant in Idaho but that is the only one in the United States at this time that I am aware of. Hats off to those folks taking such a big risk.
