Hello 👋 Are they still available ? Chora or Aria ? Vestia are good , but they lost some clarity in favor of softness etc.. (but still maybe are ok within their class ).. Theva i think are inferior ... i haven't heard the new Aria Evo X1 to compare with the "classic" aria's , although ! Thanks for the demo ..i very much hope for other similar ti follow (especially with speakers like these here, & Triangles , Davis Acoustics , Cabasse ,etc, )😁

Usually the simpliest and easiest way to connect a TV to an amplifier is to have a Receiver with and Optical Input. Then TV Optical out into the Receiver Optical Input. If wanting to connect to a straight analog power amplifier with no volume control, you'll need a DAC to convert the TV Optical and a way to control the volume because most TV's output Optical Output with full volume.

Question, i am thinking of getting Monitor Audio 100 Silver, how is it compared to Focal Vestia 1?
@connectronix172 ай бұрын
Hmmm.... That's a good question. I think that the Focal being smaller and having the M Tweeter is likely to be a little more refined and detailed in the mid and upper frequencies. But the Silver 100's are larger overall and have the larger 8" Woofer will have a fuller and overall larger sounding soundstage making it closer to a tower speaker kind of sound. But it may be a detriment to the midrange clarity and detail. We have both the Focal Vestia No1 and the Monitor Audio Silver 100 in the Showroom. You got me thinking that maybe I should do a comparison between the two.

@connectronix172 ай бұрын
You're absolutely correct that the TV is too high. But not quite 10" too high. We had the previous TV lower and closer to the chair rail, but When we put up the LG 8K TV we just used the same Peerless wall mount location as to not start turning the wall into swiss cheese. So the TV is actually as low as it can go right now with that mount without me drilling new holes in the wall. But I will say that i appreciate your attention to detail because I'm very much the same way. And now that you got me thinking about it, it bothers me again. Thanks bro!

@connectronix172 ай бұрын
The room actually sounds really good. We've had so many manufacturers and reps come in over the years and they all comment on how good the room sounds. We just had Mr. Shaw the national sales rep for Focal came into the Showroom in June and he stated that he was impressed with how good the room was sounding as he listened to the Vestia No1's. The microphone that we're using is a Rode mic and is probably decent overall but not great for doing the sound demo recordings. But that's the best mic we have right now.

@danab74725 ай бұрын
They’re even uglier when you see the ridiculous price tag (here in Australia at least). I’ve been eyeballing the Silver 100 but if MA is going to go all JBL and screw consumers on the price of cheap metal stands they can keep their speakers too.
@connectronix172 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of them either. On the box it said Black, but the largest part of the stand and the part you see the most is silver. I was like, What?! @connectronix172 ай бұрын
I'm surprised at what some of these manufacturers charge for stands sometimes. I get that they need to make money, but come on. I think it's great when a company puts thought time, and effort into designing a "matching" stand for the speakers but the speaker and the stand should be approaching the cost of the smallest floor stander in the line. I think that's why a lot of companies will do bookshelf/standmount speakers but not even offer a stand for them because they figure people can buy something else on there own,

Why shouldn't I stand my speakers (eg KEF Ls50 metas) on toilet rolls (6 high, 2 deep, 2 wide)? I'M NOT JOKING. Wouldn't the soft paper absorb any unwanted vibration/energy? Wouldn't it be as near as possible to floating on air? I've asked this question in a number of comment sections, and it's usually dismissed as being ridiculous. As I say - I'm not joking. I want an answer. 🧐

@@mesterferenc2688 The point I was/am trying to make is - is there any good reason to NOT do it. Over the last 100 years the idea must've occurred to many people. Why has it not been taken up by everyone? There must be some problem that appears at some point. Or is it just an aesthetic thing?
@simonzinc-trumpetharris8525 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong with a bit of experimentation
@connectronix172 ай бұрын
I hear you with that. You're theory is right, half of it anyway. The "floating" idea makes sense to a point. I've even thought about hanging the speaker from the ceiling from strings. Now there's nothing touching the speaker. But that wouldn't be good either because physics tells us, "That for every action, there is and equal and opposite reaction". So every time the woofer would move out to play a bass note, the rest of the speaker (cabinet and all) would move backwards.so if you want tight, fast, accurate bass, only the woofer driver should move. That's why the heavier the speaker the better. Thicker cabinet walls the better. More stable they stands the better. Now break that down from woofer movement all the way down to the small vibrations. Again only the drivers should be vibration, not the cabinet, the stands or the floor. That's where spikes come in, isolation platforms, and isolation feet. To stop, minimize, or dissipate all form of movement and vibrations other than the drivers themself that are reproducing the sound. Nothing else. It's a shame everyone thought you were joking and never took the time to try to explain it. That's how we all learn about this fun cool stuff!

Vestias are easier listening to me at the expense of being less precise. For me both have their merits. I like my Choras and play them with Dolby Atmos jumpered to play all the time. They are wonderful for Diana Krall and Norah Jones and even sound great on Beatles CDs. Couldn't pass them up on close out.

I have listened to several Focal speakers, including some five digit ones, and the marque has never done anything for me. The sound is just too thin and fatiguing for me. They seem to favor detail over ultimate musicality. I don't find the Vestia to be a significant improvement over its predecessor. Focal "borrowed" Winslow Burhoe's inverted dome but the old EPI and Genesis inverted domes were much more musical and listenable over the long haul than what I am hearing here.
