I don’t see why everybody doesn’t fix it like this, or maybe even use a brass pex T. I hate those junk Ford connectors.

My hose ends were stretched so the 3/4" tee didn't work. I hand to use (3) 1/2 pipe nipples and threaded into a tee.

I am literally on the road today pulling my travel trailer. That heater hose failed on me and left us stranded on the freeway. AAA towed my truck and trailer to Flagstaff, AZ ( 30 miles ), and got me to a NAPA store. I repaired mine the same exact way. It was good to know I did it the way others suggested (although after the fact). Thank you for the video.

Better solution: get a brass t at the hardware store for $4. If you're going to do this, replace with metal and solve the problem permanently. I do this on all my vans. Once replaced, it's good for life. (at least it has been so far).

almost ten years on this expedition (my daily) since I did the repair with the plastic tee. over 320,000 miles on this unit and that tee is holding up just fine. but if using brass makes you sleep better at night mo' power to ya! thanks for the comment.

Hi, the video has 8 yrs. , any follow-up update on this repair ?? , do you know if it lasted ?? or was there any trouble with this part because of Temperature or pressure ?? Please let us know. I just did it on my 2008 Ford Expedition Tee with 100 Kmiles, I would like to know if I can be relax or I would have to keep a very close eye on it, your reply will be greatly appreciated by everyone. Thanks !!

still my daily with well over 300,000 miles and that part is still working perfectly. thanks for the comment.

I know I'm commenting on an old post but here's my experience with this fix. The hose on my '06 broke around 4 years ago and this repair worked great. A few days ago my check gage light came on. Checked under the hood and found the replacement tee was broken. I figure the same fix will last at least that long but if I can find a metal tee I'll probably use that. I know someone who did this nearly 8 years ago and is still doing fine. Luck of the draw I guess but the bottom line is it does work.

Almost all videos I watch to work on cars the videos are terrible people are all over the place or they just tell you how its done and dont really show exactly whats going on. JUST DID MINE I USED 1" BRASS TEE LOWES # 818303 BRASS STRAIGHT COUPLING LOWES # 818300 5 CLAMPS I USED THE METHOD IN THE VIDEO TO REMOVE OLD TEE WORKED PERFECT! THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS TO THE LEFT TEE CONNECTION HAS A PLASTIC STRAIGHT COUPLING WITH A 3" PIECE OF HOSE THAT ALSO NEEDED REPLACING. I USED THE BRASS ONE LISTED ABOVE. I HAD TO REUSE THE OLD 3" PIECE OF HOSE BECAUSE NOBODY HAD 1" HEATER HOSE. INSTALLED BRASS T & BRASS STRAIGHT COUPLER & 5 CLAMPS WORKS LIKE A CHARM. TY FOR THE AWESOME VIDEO!

Thanks for the tip! I was expecting the worst when I saw coolant all over the plugs until I saw the tee leak at higher engine RPM, then I still cringed at the goofy looking fittings. Glad they can be broken easy and its just normal heater hose underneath.
@SavoirRare Жыл бұрын
Just fixed this today, 7 years after you posted this. I tried to just put a new clamp on because I could see where the leak was, but it was obvious after that did nothing that the plastic was basically cracked inside. Found a brass T at Lowes like some other people here and fixed it right up. Great tip on keeping the pieces from falling back into the hose. Thanks for saving me about $300 in a now 2022 upgraded dealer estimate! God bless you as well!

Glad I ran across this video. Just finished doing this on my 2013 ford expedition limited. Had to use a 1 inch brass t fitting instead of a 3/4. Costed me $12 total including the 3 hose clamps from Lowes. Worked to perfection. Thanks 😎😁👍💯✌

Your 6-year old video continues to help! I just replaced the tee on my 2008 Explorer 4.0. I used a brass tee from Home Depot, 3 hose clamps and a gallon of antifreeze. It went just as easy as it appeared on your video and took longer to get the parts than to do the job. The only change was that I needed a 1" x 1" x 1" tee, not 3/4. Thank you!
