This is a very common defect in Fords Heater hose assembly, leaking on spark plugs and eventually bursting as mine did. I will show you how to repair your leaking heater hose on your expedition without specialty tools or paying the extortion prices they want for that poorly engineered oem heater hose! For seven bucks and a couple of common tools you can do this repair yourself! Hope this video is a blessing to someone.
(3\4" 3-Way "T" Heater hose connector Part number H-343 at Auto-Zone)

I am literally on the road today pulling my travel trailer. That heater hose failed on me and left us stranded on the freeway. AAA towed my truck and trailer to Flagstaff, AZ ( 30 miles ), and got me to a NAPA store. I repaired mine the same exact way. It was good to know I did it the way others suggested (although after the fact). Thank you for the video.

We found ourselves on a road trip 14 hours away from home with the exact same 2010 expedition ailure you shared in this video. found the you tube video. found the o rileys in the evening. parts were the same. cost was the same. completed the repair next morning with cool engine before family finished breakfast, took 20 minutes. thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience.

Thanks for the video. The 3/4 tee that I purchased from the auto parts store was to small. Went to Lowe’s and purchased a 1” x3 Shark Bite tee (818303) and it fit perfect. It may be labeled 1” but it is not. It’s brass and under seven bucks. This may help someone at some point.

Just fixed this today, 7 years after you posted this. I tried to just put a new clamp on because I could see where the leak was, but it was obvious after that did nothing that the plastic was basically cracked inside. Found a brass T at Lowes like some other people here and fixed it right up. Great tip on keeping the pieces from falling back into the hose. Thanks for saving me about $300 in a now 2022 upgraded dealer estimate! God bless you as well!

Mine is leaking. I took it to a mechanic and he quoted me a price of $240 for the hose. Labor and tax came to $485...yes...$485. This is why I hate taking my cars to a mechanic. Then the more I looked at it I was thinking exactly what this video demonstrates. Less than $15!!Thanks to the uploader!

Thanks Burl! I did this hack yesterday on a 2003 Ranger with the 3.0L Flex Fuel engine. I followed your instruction video exactly and it worked great!. The Ranger hoses were different from the Expedition's; they were 3/4" X 3/4" X 3/8". I found a "T" that fit at O'Reilly Auto Parts. It is a Dorman Heater Hose Tee, #47112. I saved a lot of money! Just want to say thank you for posting this video! This same piece was leaking on my 08 Mercury Mountaineer and Ford was looking to charge me $331 for the whole hose assembly (it has a few more pieces than the 3 hoses)... a look at Autozone and the 3 hose assembly was $70. New hose clamps and the 3/4" T was all I needed. Thanks again!

Sorry to bother but your comment is one of the most recent i just wanned to know if u drainned your coolant to connect the t?
@mar1video
@mar1video 5 жыл бұрын
Alfredo Guaman - no you don't need to drain your coolant. You can use a wine cork to stop the leaking coolant coming from the engine side. The other hose shouldn't leak that much. Put some towels or paper towels on the coils to absorb the leaking coolant and you will be fine. I did this in the parking lot of some auto part store (Advanced Auto Parts ), and it took me about 20 minutes. Good luck. !

I always use distilled water when adding water to the radiator and at the proper ratio with the anti freeze, The city water in our town has a lot of minerals that corrode plumbing fixtures and I also suspect it corrodes the plastic radiator and heater fittings and pipe connections also and causes them to get brittle and crack.

JUST DID MINE I USED 1" BRASS TEE LOWES # 818303 BRASS STRAIGHT COUPLING LOWES # 818300 5 CLAMPS I USED THE METHOD IN THE VIDEO TO REMOVE OLD TEE WORKED PERFECT! THE HOSE THAT CONNECTS TO THE LEFT TEE CONNECTION HAS A PLASTIC STRAIGHT COUPLING WITH A 3" PIECE OF HOSE THAT ALSO NEEDED REPLACING. I USED THE BRASS ONE LISTED ABOVE. I HAD TO REUSE THE OLD 3" PIECE OF HOSE BECAUSE NOBODY HAD 1" HEATER HOSE. INSTALLED BRASS T & BRASS STRAIGHT COUPLER & 5 CLAMPS WORKS LIKE A CHARM. TY FOR THE AWESOME VIDEO!

Dealer wants $750 to change both on my 2010 Navigator...I'm going to go pick it up and bring it home rather than paying their extortion prices. They actually wanted to do coils plugs and a flush also in addition to changing both hoses, I was like uh no thanks I can change coils and flush it myself. The gates hoses are not as bad price wise on Rock Auto, but I'm going to use your method for now until I'm ready to go towing 7000lbs over the Rockies, at which point I'll buy an OEM style hose before the trip.

I can’t thank you enough for this! I was *just* about to order the hose assembly for my 2008 Expedition when I found your video. Much appreciated! 👍🏽

Thanks for the tip! I was expecting the worst when I saw coolant all over the plugs until I saw the tee leak at higher engine RPM, then I still cringed at the goofy looking fittings. Glad they can be broken easy and its just normal heater hose underneath.

Great video. Same thing happened to my 2012. The parts cost $11.45. I esp liked the reference to the radiator drain valve location.

Whoops, drain valve location was on another video, but this does not reduce the value of this video.

Excellent Post! Followed your instructions and the repair went flawlessly. Huge $ and time saver. By the way, if you have a post in reference to replacing the running board motors (little suckers are about $1100 each and the stealership charges almost the same in labor) by all means share!! Thanks again, extremely helpful!

Bud, I know man those things are ridiculous! even my Local ford parts guy, Ronnie, Who has been at our local ford parts place for 25 years could not believe the price...when he looked those motors up for me ...he paused then rolled back in his chair ...with his mouth wide open looking dumbfounded ..said "those stinkin motors are 1235.00$ a piece!" I have one off at the moment trying to rebuild it...it has a small circuit board inside that tells it when its in a bind..my gut tells me, that is the weak point in these things. I will definately post a video if I find a cheap solution. let me know if you do as well! thank you and God Bless.
