Leftist is hating oneself. You hate humamity? Mh not really. Don't you see what we do? Do you hate the race you are? No? C'mon you're |black and enslaved the nordics |white and enslaved the blacks |Jewish and kill the palestinians |Muslim and terrorist |Chinese and hate human rights |... Do you like lions? No, I was almost eaten by one. Damm your fault. Non-cute animals are also excluded btw.

I think people would be surprised to know how much Canadians swear, at least amongst millennials. I agree that a lot of older people here are offended by swearing but it's become a very common part of our lexicon too and I think we're pretty good at it. Plenty of types of swearing across the country too. Rednecks, Newfies and Québécois "joual" - it's all great!

And that’s one of the reason’s why people hate the left. Cause left wing extremists are sanctimonious hypocrites that’ll persecute you if you don’t think exactly like they do. And I’m a socialist with a few strong conservative beliefs saying this. The left and right fucking suck in their own ways.

And thats why I will always be ostracized from both communities. If I'm talking to a right winger, I'm a lunatic commie. If I'm talking to a leftist, I'm a nazi. But thats ok. I get to sit here and watch them all tear the world down around us like a bunch of spoiled children.

This has to be the first time ever, a Jew is called a coloured person. When a Jew does something good, he is a coloured person. When he does something you percieve as bad, he is just as white as Donald Trump is orange and worse than Hitler. Sloss is "okay funny". Commenters just look kind of sad. The Truth Wants to be Free.

No, that's a myth spread by fascists to draw attention away from them. We can't let people who are only performatively left wing define it. You wouldn't like it if people started judging you just because an identity thief said your catchphrase and did a hit and run, so please use common semse when people claim to be something. Why are they saying those things? Does it match their actions? Could they be lying? What are they trying to achieve?

Precisely. The right has one litmus test, Trump is king, while the left has a gajillion litmus tests by which we fracture ourselves into helpless margins. Divided we fall and all that.

Btw, we're generally a nice, helpful bunch, but it may throw us completely off kilter if you expect us to stop, especially in Manhattan. The other boroughs & rest of the state are not like Manhattan lol Hi from upstate! 🗽

This is why I love being vaguely moderate, but ultimately apolitical - I get to make fun of both sides (because let's be honest if you're arbitrarily drawing a line in the sand and saying most or all of my beliefs are on this side of the line - and you consistently stick to that logic - you're an idiot).

This is the shit that happened with Gaza. We were supposed to elect Harris because she is the easier opponent, not because we love her or she represents us. That’s not how radicals vote. You elect your slightly better and more honorable opponent and then you take them to task.

I do actually think peer pressure works, i think what's happening with the vegan situation is that all the sound arguments they might have are met with absolute SPITE because of how a lot of them behave. Any urge we have to become vegans due to the pressure by peers is overwritten by a desire to do anything but out of a deep seated instinct to spite these fucking incorrigible people. Otherwise... It wouldn't be so enjoyable to eat a steak at a table full of vegans, in this example.

LOL! I totally get this as a progressive Texan. I'm a progressive on most stuff, but do own firearms. I do believe in common sense gun laws and the like, but I am not one of the people who are all like "no one should ever own a gun," and this doesn't sit well with some groups of progressives. I'm all like "Look, I might be a progressive, but I'm a progressive Texan." LOL!

I used to think the same way. "When I no longer feel it, it's dead." WRONG! Long-lasting love is not a lasting feeling, but a decision and - as stupid as it is - work. You have to ACTIVELY decide that you want to stay with the person and be faithful to them. And if you meet another interesting person, don't think "now I have to break up". Because you will inevitably reach the same point with the new person at some point unless you work on yourself and your attitude. Because - fun fact - falling in love is nothing more than a chemical reaction that naturally passes at some point. It's not the partner's fault. And the absence of infatuation doesn't mean you should leave. Anyone who thinks like that will never have a really long relationship. As my grandmother said to me after more than 50 years of marriage: "People today think life is like a schmaltzy romantic comedy and are then disappointed and angry with their partner when there isn't romantic background music playing 24/7."

My husband and I still feel in love after 18 years, however we both never stopped putting effort into showing the other person multiple times per day that we loved them so perhaps the continued feelings just followed the continued actions. It probably also helped that we were polyamorous for the last 15 years, so finding other people attractive has never been something that would require us to break up, and also means there are no feelings we need to shove down or ignore in order to stay together. There is also a difference between the obsessive love ("limerence") that is present during the honeymoon period, which is a good thing it doesn't last (your brain has other important things it needs to dwell on besides your partner), so limerence fading does not mean that you don't love that person anymore. But if you are both not putting in active effort, I can see how your attraction to each other can wane. I wouldn't want to be with someone who isn't putting in effort, but is staying with me anyway because they decided they ought to be faithful, that just sounds like it breeds resentment. Loving someone should not be about what you do or refrain from doing outside of the relationship, but about what you do or don't do inside the relationship. But I do agree with the clip - if you're no longer interested in putting the effort in when you are with your partner, it's kinder to just break up sooner even if it makes you look like the bad guy so that they are free to focus on finding someone who will put in the effort, rather than leading the person on.

This os so true. Not that it comes up, in rormal conversations at a lunch, unless there's something in the news, it's all just media & yt talking shirt. But on rather liberal, but they're are 1/2 topics where my stance would be considered conservative (though not always for the same reason), since were mentioned here, but if i said it out loud at the table, explosion. Could only do it at a public debate which is usually just 20yo student shouting at each other

You could have just said, “The Scottish comedian.” Fern Brady also exists, but she’s a comedienne. Or maybe a stripper. But when you say it, I honestly feel like Hamlet is “The Scottish Play”, and you’re an actor in some non-tragedy play that people think it’s unlucky to speak of. “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead” or something. And now I want to go watch a bunch of Top Stoppard plays.
