Beautiful record, nostalgic 80s. Regarding the context of the time, well... the government failed (very) to insist on an unsustainable ''separation'' model, especially after the fall of the gold standard and the revolts in neighboring countries after Portugal left, not to mention the fall of Rhodesia in 1980. Defense spending was exploding and the South African state's ability to finance itself was collapsing, and Western boycotts only made the situation worse. The national party should have carried out an electoral reform before 1983 and more comprehensively, it is a fact, even recognizing that there was an action by them in that decade to improve. It can be researched, there is it on the wiki, as gradually the tensions of the old regime, the separation laws were being removed little by little, in 83, 85, 86, but there was no time, and in the referendum of 92 the country's destiny was defined. Reforms started late and there was no time to organize the country before ''passing the baton''... perhaps many hidden interests were at play too... and far beyond the South African nation, anyway. May this beautiful country achieve a good future, if it is still possible.

So, the matter is much more complex. The fact that the NP and its apartheid were wrong and destined to end... does not mean that the ANC and its totalitarian government would be the solution... Just rethink and analyze... The country has a lot of potential and has already lost almost 80 years in crises and extreme partisanship. It is past time for South Africa to seek a path of true balance. May this good and rare record be an example of learning. The heyday of South Africa's segregationist regime occurred in the 1960s and 1970s. And with an economic boom that benefited the whole country, the ENTIRE country, again. However, after the fall of friendly countries like Mozambique and Rhodesia, in addition to the end of the gold-dollar standard in the international monetary system in 1971, the country's economy was severely affected and did not return to the excellent performance of before, entering a chronic crisis. in the 80s. Not to mention the definitive rise in the price of oil (OPEC crisis in 1973), on which South Africa has always depended. Understanding the moment of change and adapting was crucial, but the NP government at that time missed the opportunity to reform the country. Therefore, it would no longer be possible to maintain a police state for so long, with defense spending growing exponentially, as well as the weight of international sanctions. In this sense, the end of the USSR in 1991 helped a lot to make possible the transition to post-apartheid without civil war in the AFR. From the South and beyond, Namibia can be saved by giving it independence without it falling like Angola and Zimbabwe, for example. May the Boer country rise again and become a land of prosperity, greetings from Brazil.

@@andrewdutoit9571 if u follow the news there is a outcry in the UK aswell, I'm not just talking about the South African whites, this type of things happened in many places, the French did the same thing in Africa in my openion the French are the worst when it comes to this because they didn't build anything all they is take and take from the continent and they still doing it now, the same thing the British did and the Americans, my point is u can't live like a king and the people live like dogs and expect it to last forever, even this corrupt ANC they going to fall it's just a matter of time.

@@andrewdutoit9571 I don't think anyone can say the whites didn't contribute a lot to south africa, if anyone saying it means they don't know what they talking about, to me I think the white in SA built a very beautiful place, but I think they mad the mistake of excluding other races from it, and that helped the ANC with their agenda, I think RIP deklerk should given the other races their rights to vote and work and buy properties and he could stayed president of the country instead of being stubborn and at the end just handing it over, obviously the west want part here we all know the west of they can't get a piece of the pie than they put sanctions or invade your country.
