@SubbuteoFocus yes I can see the options with that set up and definitely easier to get those pitch level videos and photos, I would imagine. Like most collections, especially if they're usable, they evolve and you've hit the mark here. I enjoyed the tour 👍.

Thank you 👍, yes the clock is just about an ok size. I’ve done a video of the football set up which I’ll be uploading in the next couple of days. It doesn’t look too bad but I think the grey suits the Cricket best. I’ve set up the Rugby ready to video as well and I must say I think the tan terracing would probably look better. But I won’t be doing a tan version 😁

@@soitra thanks Darren, I can’t do a 4th stand opposite as it would stop me being able to play cricket from that other side. Just about manage to reach over a single terrace. That’s probably it for a bit.

@@paulbutler6112 Thanks Paul, those mods sound interesting the problem I have is a lack of DIY skills. No doubt I’d mess it up 😁. I’ve seen some mods to set ups done by other guys which look great, I just don’t think I have the ability to do it justice. But never say never 😊

@soitra Sorry to hear about your leg Darren, that sounds awful and painful. Hope you have a swift recovery. Thanks for the tip, I think I’ll go spray paint as the finish will probably be better than if I try and paint it with a brush! I’ll be doing a video to show how it works out 😬. @@SubbuteoFocus maybe just handpaint a small section of the reverse of one of the stands and compare to one of the existing grey stands, just so you see you get a decent colour match before you cut loose with the spray can. Lovely photos of Edgbaston by the way - good weather, cricket, few beers - best day out ever!

Had a cracking couple of days at the cricket, yes a few beers and lovely weather. Just what summer sport is all about! I think I need a few trial patches before releasing the spray paint 😁

It was good to use the spare bar and posts, they were just sitting in a box doing nothing! So at least made some use of them. Not sure if this dying business would work with plastic goals though. The dye might discolour the posts being plastic 🤔

Funny you should mention that, after I’d finished it, it did cross my mind how it could be done. Two colours would look great, maybe it would be a case of brushing the dye across the area you want a certain colour and a separate brush and colour for the other 🤔

@user-te1hi9rx7b if you have a spare set you could maybe try it with one colour and if works add the second. And if it totally doesn’t work dye them both the same colour. 👍

It was my first time dying something but it was an experiment, luckily it turned out ok. Maybe I’ll try another colour on the nets if I get bored of the yellow.

Thanks Gary, the pitch came out of a box set off eBay. I think sometimes it’s the luck of the draw with what you get in the old box sets. And I fell lucky. Sometimes the eBay seller will put decent photos up then it’s a bit less of a gamble. 🏏👍

I remember that era very well, that’s when as a youngster I started to really get into Cricket. On one of my other videos I show some memorabilia of one of my favourite cricketers from around the same time, Mike Proctor, what a player he was. All those players you mentioned are legends 👍

@@SubbuteoFocus YEAH. Mike Proctor was the all rounder who played for Gloucestershire. Remember him well from our County League games we had. Incredible- i can remember stuff from the 1970s but now struggle with remembering things from literally yesterday!

Cheers, took a bit of time to put together but happy with the look, for now! I played Test match and found it very playable but liked and like Subbuteo Cricket as it has a more realistic game play feel, bowling, batting and field placings etc. Test match as good as it was, felt like a quick set up and then it was wham bam! But like I say a good game all the same. Yes the Canterbury tree, fantastic landmark and feature. I remember when I first saw it on TV and wondered what the hell was going on! As far as Subbuteo is concerned, in order and IMHO, I like the Cricket then football then Rugby. Never played Hockey, speedway, fishing and I believe snooker was another product!

@@SubbuteoFocus I had the Subbuteo Rugby game. Tried getting into it. Bought a few of the teams-but never found it that good. Recently encountered someone who is massively into the real game of Rugby League and also had Subbuteo Rugby game and said it just wasnt as good as the football game not realistic enough.

Same here, played it when I was a kid and got back into it. My Son has had the FIFA games on console and as good as they look and play it just doesn’t feel the same way as actual flicking the players on a pitch, feels a lot more interactive than playing on screen. But that’s just my humble opinion 👍😊

totally agree. me and my mates never ever played 'defensive' or 'block' flicks. and we just moved players for corners and throw ins and free-kicks

Yes they would, got a bit of a wake up call there, if they get out of the group fair play but they just don’t have enough top level players. Was talking to my son about Scotland and said they haven’t had a good team since 1974-78!

i remember aged 15 my mum saying, aren’t you too old for that? now 47 and making my own flats 😂 currently 200+ teams .. latest is clydebank ref 73. worked through the original 190 reference chart.. proves she didn’t understand the bug 😂

@@pitchforkcustom yes I was a bit off the mark with that one, Scotland could not have started any worse, that sending off fully deserved. I like the old 1970’s tackling but in this day and age you can’t do that. I’ve had a cheeky £10 on Germany winning the tournament, helps playing at home.

I don’t think I have a favourite to be honest, I think my play is quite even batting and bowling with both hands. It’s like everything I guess, I’m used to playing that way and it comes with practice. I also like setting the field after every over, makes it feel like the real game. Changing ends and all that! 🏏👍

Yes I remember Clemence getting pelters after that one. And deservingly so! I think people of my age remember the home internationals with fondness, and it would be a good end of season tournament to have a look at fringe and young players in a friendly but competitive game situation. This was probably the best Scottish team I’ve seen in my lifetime. Be interesting to see how the euros pan out, tough start for Scotland.

@garybanks2325 I think players did get caps for home internationals but I stand to be corrected on that.

Glad you enjoyed watching it unfold, and if you do get a set you won’t regret it. It’s a very playable and rewarding game. When you place a fielder and he takes a catch it makes you feel like a captain who set the field correctly for it, very satisfying. 🏏👍
