Thank you for the tutorial, this really helped out a lot for my 2020 corolla. I noticed it was much easier to go into gear and I felt that the engine was actually delivering power to the transmission. However, I noticed that after a week, the clutch began to feel like it did before the fluid replacement. I'm wondering if I have to bleed it again, or if it's something else. I also need to change the transmission fluid as well which could be causing the problem as well.
@Turco949Ай бұрын
How many miles does it have? Mine is a manual transmission so no transmission fluid to replace, just hydraulic brake fluid for the clutch and gearbox oil which I am planning on changing in couple of weeks which is another important maintenance item. Unless you saw the new fluid coming out when pumping the clutch pedal, it is impossible to know if you got all the old fluid out. I might have left some in there too but should not be much as it has been working great all this time.
@murdochjaxon838528 күн бұрын
@@Turco949 Hi thanks for replying! I got mine with 100,000 miles so that explains a lot XD. I ended up changing the fluid again for the clutch, and it was just as dark, so I may not have bleed out all the fluid completely. Also I changed the transmission fluid which helped out a lot as well. What concerns me is that when I did so, the transmission fluid wasn't topped up all the way. After these completing these maintenance items, the car shifts more smoothly now. Thanks!

Hi, did u notice any improvement, I'm also experiencing hard shifting to reverse and sometimes also unable to go into 1st after a stop🥲, need to put it in 2nd then back to 1st to engage
@Turco949Ай бұрын
Oh yeah, the issue of not being able to shift into reverse and second disappeared completely. I may have not gotten it all out 100% because I had to wrap it up but I will do it again in a month or so when it is not scorching hot out there. I might update with a new video plus I will also change the gearbox oil since the mileage just passed 25K already. For you and people in your situation, the compression is low due to degraded hydrolic fluid. Try pumping the clutch pedal 2-3 times and see if it shifts then.
@ozmediiaАй бұрын
Thanks man! glad to hear that it got better for you, will try to do the same and replace the gearbox oil as well@@Turco949

Good video- curious what year Stelvio this is- is it ABS? Need to do a flush on a '13 Stelvio NTX ABS- unsure if I can simply bleed it - some bikes you have to bleed from the ABS pump and get into the software..etc
@Turco9494 ай бұрын
Yes, mine is an ABS too but I didn't have to do what you mentioned and worked out just fine. The clutch and rear brake doesn't even need a pump like (MityVac) but it makes it a little faster. Front calipers could use the suction to make it easer and better though. Best to suck out as much of the old fluid as possible from the reservoir beforehand. Good luck!

Care to elaborate on how you came to that conclusion? Earlier year models had valve issues or something like that but the last 2 years (1987 700cc and 1988 750cc) that major issue was corrected but due to the bad rep and declined sales they stopped production until next gen model.

I appreciate the posting. Your video was super helpful. It took me about 35 minutes by myself. I did about 12 rounds and used about 12 oz of new brake fluid. The old fluid was definitely dirty, but luckily, it was not too bad.
@Turco9496 ай бұрын
Couldn't capture the video as well as I wanted but glad it was helpful. How many rounds/cycles needed can vary. Important thing is to keep doing it until you see clean fluid coming out, then you are good to go. I am planning on changing the gear oil soon. That is also another important maintenance item that should be replaced every 20K-25K miles.
@robme36606 ай бұрын
Is this part of the brake flush process that a dealer does, or is this step something that you should do separately? I had the dealer do a brake fluid flush at 3 years 33k miles.
@Turco9496 ай бұрын
You'd have to clarify with the dealer to see if it is covered but it is a straightforward maintenance procedure that just about anyone can do within 20 minutes. 3 years, imo, is a bit too long. To keep this working smoothly, this should be done every 2-2.5 years regardless of the miles.
@robme36606 ай бұрын
Would gravity bleeding work, or does the angle prevent it?
@ZZH1986Ай бұрын
@@robme3660 You could somewhat gravity bleed it, as long as the clutch lines are below the reservoir. But sucking it out would be best, even the method in this video will leave some old fluid in areas.
@calebmarquez76518 ай бұрын
Did you press the clutch in each time (5-6 times) you bled the valve?
@Turco9498 ай бұрын
Yes, of course. I used my hand to pump it (a few times is all you really need) because I was using the squeegee tool to keep the pedal pressed down around 80%. You can always use a suction tool like MityVac which would make it much easier and quicker, eliminating the need to keep pumping the pedal or doing anything inside the cabin.
