The first one you swung and didn’t use your legs which isn’t what you supposed to do The second one you used you legs and kept your platform straight which is what you are supposed to do

To be honest I’ve been training and taking instruction for the last 6 years and I’ve avoided resistance training like these. Do you think the exercises simply maintain? Or the full spectrum of exercises you do measurably increase vertical? I feel like being more than twice your age I need to be careful how much wear and tear I put on my legs to be able maintain the health of my ankle, knee and hip joints Curious of your thoughts 💭 I can obviously pepper in some resistance training and plyometrics but what do you think you would do if you were new to the sport and in the 45-55 range?
@shanedsouza18929 күн бұрын
You can condition your joints for more extreme activities just by doing exercises that push you barely into those regions of discomfort, and slowly adding more weight/going deeper as you get more and more comfortable going lower. Doing deep squats, deep split squats, backwards walking, sled pull and push as you get stronger, are all super useful exercises for putting your knees under stress and getting them stronger with low impact.
@EricCamBeachVolleyball29 күн бұрын
@ thanks Shane! and you think keep doing the weight resistance even at 40 50 and 60 years old? Say I worked out with Caleb or you… are you saying jjust get in great strength shape over time and just use less weight compared to what you guys are using but push into the uncomfortable ranges and don’t have fear about wear and tear on joints that could build with the wear and tear of playing. My court movement and quick twitch is still fast. Also are you encouraging these gym cross training gym exercises and have noticed measurable vert increases? And overall game legs strength stamina in games ? I guess I’d love to hear from the 45-60 year olds on this too who do the cross training with weights in the gym)
@calebkwekel28 күн бұрын
@@EricCamBeachVolleyball I would definitely still recommend weight training at your age! There are so many different benefits to it besides increasing vertical. The fast twitch movements are the main exercises that would increase your vertical and the strength is meant to keep you healthy, so you can put extreme amounts of force into the ground. The Knees Over Toes program is a great way to start out to get overall health. You should look into that and let me know what you think! I was on his program for a couple years and there are several different skill levels to start at!

What was your vertical before concentrating on exercises to increase it
@calebkwekel28 күн бұрын
@@EricCamBeachVolleyball it’s hard to tell being that I started working out at age 13. A lot of my vertical is contributed to genetics(studies say 50-60%), but I’d say about 10’’ increases over the course of several years.

Its impressive how bad beach vball players are to be blocked by a one men block like that refusing to change the hit angle

@@simon-ln2ji I see what you are saying about changing the angle, happens to the best of us at some point 😉
@mEtil5656Ай бұрын
It's all mind games. Also you have to keep in mind that you are a lot less athletic on sand, and thus have less air time Less air time -> less time to rotate your hit angle surprisingly in the air

Just wrote on a training rep group I just started on WhatsApp “Caleb just started a series of quick shorts on YT (he currently has 9 recent shorts) with all kinds of good tips. Obviously there’s all kinds of styles or techniques to accomplish the same goals. I do like how Caleb breaks down some of these skills into simple concepts that are easily digestible”
