The trick to getting the ink to flow with the right consistency is to stir thoroughly rather than shake, so you don’t get bubbles, and to stir again before the next dip. I use the end of a paint brush to stir, then wipe clean afterwards. You can also use a ruling pen to apply the ink, but don’t dip it; fill it from the side with a small brush. A ruling pen allows you to vary the width of the line

thanks for all the step-by-step deets & the PDF grid or compass options. Looking at it finished, I might not want to start, but you did such a good job with the "demo deets" for each step, that I will give it a try. Thanks much!

I make my own greeting card fronts & am often wanting a border around them - thanks for so many examples! my leaves are always wonky. I just noticed, in your first example, when you draw the two leaf sides, one has a wiggle, the other is just a straight curve. small thing, but I think it's gonna make my leaves much more to my liking. THANKS !!

Love this ❤ The last colour on the fifth line moved wonderfully, could you tell me what it was please?
@LouDavis11 күн бұрын
Oh I think that was a mix - probably some pthalo turquoise and quinacridone magenta.
@NancyTaplin-br4uz10 күн бұрын
@LouDavis thank you, I did wonder if it was quin magenta. It's a beautiful colour regardless

I've recently started learning watercolor techniques and have been looking for a good quality white pen to over watercolor images. Your reviews helped me tremendously! Thank you SO much, Lou!

This is such a helpful tutorial. I’ve been trying to curate a book of patterns but hadn’t figured out how to start on the ones I make. This is a wonderful idea. I am also finding images of patterns in fabric arts. I’m fascinated by mixed media that includes stitching and fabric along with paint, ink, pencil, etc.

Oh I’m so pleased I found your channel! You paint such achievable pieces! At first I thought there’s no way I’d be able to draw such cute little houses, but you break it down and give us permission to not aim for perfection 😂 I’m looking forward to trying this one! Thank you ❤. By the way where is your accent from?

I’m going to be painting a sparkly dress with sequins, and I’m looking for the best way to make the dress look super sparkly and pretty, I want the sparkles on the sequins to really stand out. Do you think a white pen like these would be ideal for adding a finishing touch to the (glittery) watercolor painting? Love the video 🤗🤗
