Im an adult, i have dyscalculia. I still don't know my timetables like my 6's , 7's, 9's, 4's especially. But even with ones i know like 5 x 3 = 15 sometimes I just forget that its 15 so i still have to recount it and i get confused and stuck all the time. . like i forget all of them, i mix mash the numbers all wrong, i cant do division. It hurts my head physically to think of numbers, i cant visualize numbers. I have been practicing everyday and still forget them, i have made songs, made comics and still forget the numbers my timetables. I cant do money, or time either, i cant do addition like 42 + 39 most people could do that easily but i cant, i have to either write it down other wise i just forget about the nubmers so quickly and i forget where im carrying what to and i just get very confused so easily with it all and its so frustrating. I have such severe dyscalculia and i have aphantasia too. Makes me rlly sad that most people insticively know a time table like 6 x 6, whereas I have to manually write everything down or take extra time finger counting or doing some hand trick to figure it out :( Ty for this video. I havn't watched it yet but It looks helpful.

This video is the bomb😎❤ I once had my own daycare in my garage, but I didn't have patience, so I gave up. I'm ready to start my own school back up. I love your tips on thinking about my marketing strategy, vision, and putting my dream on paper. GOD is calling me back to my own business. I've been teaching for 13 years. I taught 4 years, took a break to open my own school, and then went back to teaching for steady income. I feel like I'm supposed to get my own school again. It's my calling!!! Thank you for the video❤❤❤

It is so truly sad, and it will affect generations to come if it doesn’t get turned around fast. I fear for parents who are raising their children without boundaries or consequences of any kind, while simultaneously instilling in them the skill to blame others, teachers, the tone or delivery the person of authority spoke to them, the fact they may have been wanting a snack etc on their outburst/ temper thrashing is diabolical.

57 and just learnt of dyscalculiar yesterday, but l've lived it my whole life. I can't do primary school maths. It's affected my working life, having made me depressed when doing jobs that required maths or other detailed work. Give me a numbers task and l'll give you 3 results from each of my 3 attempts (all likely wrong). My spelling is also hopeless: had a uni lecturer comment that he hadn't given a HD to an essay so poorly spelt before. Are being hopeless with numbers and spelling related?

Discipline problems being included in exceptional education is a major problem for everyone who actually wants to learn. Putting these students in their least restrictive environment places the others in their MOST restrictive environment; therefore, nobody learns. It’s a sad cycle. The No Child Left Behind resulted in No Child Gets Ahead

Not enough parents are fighting for their child and understanding when the fight with public school is too much and understanding it’s time for an alternative like what you are doing. I rather my child have a chance of learning to their potential then to be in public school being pushed to the next grade after grade and they not learning anything because it’s way over their head.

The whole public education system needs a huge overhaul, but special education even more so. I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but coming from a former special ed kid with mild autism and learning disabilities, mainstreaming was the worst thing for me. Gen ed teachers usually don’t know how to accommodate special needs students properly and simply don’t have the time to modify their curriculum. Also, I got bullied by the neurotypical students and comparing myself to them did a lot of damage to my self-esteem. While inclusion in regular classes works for some sped kids, it doesn’t work for many like myself who needed to be in a small classroom environment that focused heavily on reading, math, life skills, social skills, and preparation for the future. Not to mention, sitting still at a desk for hours on end was like torture for me and the only way I really learn things is by doing them and applying those skills in the “real world” instead of reading out of a textbook or doing worksheets. As for regular education, they need to actually focus more on students properly learning their academics which is what school is for, and stop teaching identity politics and pushing certain ideologies and political agendas. Also, critical thinking skills is extremely important for all students to learn. Thank you for doing what you do, Cindy because I sure could’ve used a school like yours when I was younger! ❤

I agree special education is not working. However I am a Speech language Pathologist. I have tried working in multiple settings. The field is broken. I cannot do individual lesson plans for 40+ students a week, do the same amount of testing and report writing as a school psychologist along with being an IEP case manager for only speech and language students while having to write and attend IEP meetings for 40 - 80 kids. Also all of the different diagnoses Speech therapists are supposedly experts in. I have to be a specialist in speech sound disorders, language disorders, autism, social skills, executive functioning. I do not know this when I got my degree and chose this field. When I first started out SLPs only worked on stuttering, speech sound disorders and typical language delays.

It baffles me when liberals are so deathly afraid of project 2025 as if they’re going to lose something that was working. lol the current system is a total fail. If project 2025 was really implemented, that would only wipe the slate clean so that effective measures can finally take place.

My little guy had so much difficulty learning to read…he was confused…so I went back to the very old ‘Dick and Jane’ books…because they only start off adding one or two words at each story…….and we would go over those new words before we read each new story……so he got the emotional feeling of ‘I’m reading’ and it slowed things down so that he can handle it. He started kindergarten not being able to recognize any letters….Hes now in Second grade……his reading is improved…reading at about 1.5 grade level… I do a ‘homeschool’ session with him every day after school….we focus on reading, spelling words for school, and penmanship…..our little homeschool sessions are about 45 minutes in length…and I give him a couple hours after school to de escalate from his school day before we do our ‘homeschool’ session. He’s also in a Special Ed classroom for part of the day at school.

@CindyTheLDCoach
@CindyTheLDCoach 29 күн бұрын
This is a great question and just depending on your resources and that of your community it may not be easy. However, I would do alternative education, etc. Private school, micro-school, if you can handle it homeschool. Depending on your state, there are vouchers for students with disabilities. Also, it he/she may be a unicorn, but a retired teacher. Also, having a tutor. However, I like creating environments where their confidence can be improved because they are not comparing themselves to their gen Ed peers. In minority communities what I would like to see is more parents come together to establish these types of schools for their children. In essence, it’s what I’ve done. I’m still just trying to find enough parents who will truly support it so that it can grow and be here after me. This is what other groups do to meet the needs of their kids, granted often they have resources or access through connections.

OMG!!!! THIS HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO ME!!! I HAVE BEEN SO DEPRESSED BECAUSE I FINALLY WALKED AWAY FROM A SCHOOL IN 2023 BECAUSE THEY WERE WANTING TO JUST GIVE KIDS GRADES AND EVERYTHING ELSES U WERE TALKING ABOUT. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME AS HEAD TEACHER. IT WAS HORRIBLE WHAT THEY WERE DOING TO THOSE STUDENTS. THEY WERE MAD AT ME BECAUSE I WAS COMMUNICATING WITH THE PARENTS, BUT THAT WAS WHAT I HAD BEEN TALK TO DO AT MY PREVIOUS SCHOOL. THEY WERE TRYING TO LABEL ALL THE KIDS IN THE SCHOOL AS SPECIAL NEEDS TOO. WHAT YOU ARE DOING GAVE ME HOPE FOR THE KIDS BECAUSE THEY GET LOST IN THE SYSTEM. MOST SCHOOLS PUT MORE MONEY ON SPORTS AND BAND AND OTHER ACTIVITIES THINGS AND NEVER HAVE ENOUGH TO FUND THEIR NEEDS AND TEACHERS SPEND SO MUCH MORE OUT OF POCKET.

I'm hoping this will educate parents more about the reality of public school and other schools. I hope that things will improve. I also really agree that state testing is not the way. As an RBT that has worked in the school systems in Illinois the Governor has granted schools more money for SPED Support but the schools are pocketing the money and giving these kids the bare minimum of support or sometimes none at all. Parents are not educated on their rights of having support provided for their children in the school systems. Blame the school systems and ask them about their bonuses at the end of the fiscal year 😮

Yes absolutely I am a student/Detroit Resident and I’m curious if it will affect us to I’m 21 years old who has a disability and what I can for sure say atleast where I’m at Detroit Public Schools lacks with there Special Education what they need to do in my opinion is open up new Special Education Facility Center programs I’ll probably say something aged 4-26 or another program that’s aged 18-26 have multiple programs such as a program for (Low Functioning Students) and a Special Education program for (High Functioning Students) such as me have these programs provide free School Bus Transportation so the students can get the education they need there heavenly focusing on the General Ed/Regular Ed students and not the Special Education students and it’s bogus to me I truly hope something good comes from this because where I live at there are so many vacant schools that could literally be used as a Special Education Facility but I guess Detroit Public Schools is to lazy to do that and rather focus on the General Ed students.
